Jeb Bush criticized President Trump's controversial tweets about the death toll in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
"Incredibly disheartening comments from our President," Bush tweeted Thursday.
Trump beat the former Florida governor for the Republican nomination for president in 2016.
Trump sparked controversy earlier Thursday when he tweeted that the estimated 3,000 death toll was intentionally inflated by Democrats.
The 3,000 approximation comes from a George Washington University study that tried to total how many "excess deaths" occurred because of Hurricane Maria and would not have happened in the absence of the cyclone.
Those involved with the study have emphasized that the 3,00 estimate(!) is not a conclusive number and further work should be done.
"Among all the deaths that occurred, which of them were related to Maria, which of them would not have occurred if it hadn't been for the storm? We're not able to say that now," the dean of GW's Milken Institute School of Public Health, Lynn Goldman, told CNN late last month.
The president has not brought forward any evidence for his claim Democrats falsified the number.
Trump has been roundly criticized for his tweets on the left and the right, even among some of his most staunch defenders.
Still, the White House defended the president's statements Thursday.
"President Trump was responding to the liberal media and the San Juan Mayor who sadly have tried to exploit the devastation by pushing out a constant stream of misinformation and false accusations," White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said in a statement Thursday to CNN.
This past weekend, obama gave speeches, which were covered and carried on TV. Never has he lied so much, over so important things, with such ease! And the media has said NOTHING about the heavy, in-your-face, obvious, twisted mind of the past president who did that with all the earnestness he owns on his face, lie after lie... provable ... the media never flinched... they gave him the sweetheart pass they give to the evil side of our country. And they are not the ememy of the people out here who see this every day!
I don’t consider a heart diseased person’s heart attack death during a hurricane to be a hurricane death any more than I consider it a wedding caused death if it happens during a wedding.
I think the Bushes consider the ex-Presidency to be an exclusive club, deserving of respect. They have proven that it is NOT deserving of respect.
Way to keep smokin’ them out, Mr. President.
Jeb Bush? Is he sill around?
Jeb! mustered up enough energy to say something stupid. Not surprised he is hateful, but surprised he had the energy.
Somebody please stick a pacifier in his mouth and rock him back to sleep.
Imagine if Prescott Bush had been an official Democrat. Look what we could have been spared.
lol
One could say the hurricane itself, directly resulted in 13 deaths, but the failure of local gov’t to provide care and relief to its citizens in the wake of the hurricane resulted in almost 3000 deaths.
Everyone who died from a heart attack in the year after the hurricane was ‘counted’ because of stress?
Go Away Jeb!
This is Hialeah! Taco Bell employee refuses to help client who doesnt speak Spanish

Jeb Bush needs to look into this... this Taco Bell is within miles of where Jeb lives:
The lib concocted 3,000 number is being reported by 99% of the media as gospel. Even Fox. Theyre as bad as any other liberal channel. The 3,000 figure is absolutely bogus and yesterday Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh shredded it. It is FAKE NEWs. Its just another attempt to make Trump look like an uncaring idiot. I suggest only watching Lou Dobbs on Fox News.He is 1000% pro Trump and calls out the haters daily. Ignore the other shows.
Yes, so a STUDY somewhere in Washington DC determines how many dead is superior to an ACTUAL body count. This is not the third world. I doubt the final will be that high.
Jeb is just doing the bidding of Bill Kristol and the Bush Leaguers.
It shouldn’t be TOO hard to compile a list of predominately Catholic countries to see.
See the Wikipedia's sortable table. By percentage Catholic, the top ten countries with population over 10 million are Poland, Italy, the Philippines, Portugal, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Spain. Poland is 85.8% Catholic, and Spain 69.6%.
Those countries are not exactly stand-outs for economic growth and prosperity. But it is hard to see a specific Catholic reason for why.
What seems to be important in a culture conducive to economic growth is:
It is no accident that the industrial revolution occurred in Great Britain, home of the Magna Carta. Nor is it an accident that the United States, inheriting the British tradition, became the world's number one nation.
Fake Gospel
True Gospel: Choice kills MORE than 3,000 Future American Citizens EVERY DAY in the USA!!
That has been what my wife and I have been doing. I just do not have the patience to watch the anti-Trump infotainment nonsense provided by most of the rest of the media.
As far as the Yebster
Over 90% of Republicans love and support the Trump presidency, but an even higher number than that, are now repulsed by the Bush family. I almost feel bad for Barbara and HW living long enough to see their dynasty crash and burn the way that it has. We have President Donald Trump to thank for shining a light on the clan's true nature.
