Brown, who has positioned California as a global leader in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, approved the measure as he prepares to host a summit in San Francisco of climate change leaders from around the world later this week.
The renewable energy measure would require California's utilities to generate 60 percent of their energy come from wind, solar and other specific renewable sources by 2030. That's 10 percent higher than the current mandate.
The goal would then be to use only carbon-free sources to generate electricity by 2045. It's merely a goal, with no mandate or penalty for falling short.

My predictions:
1) Energy prices in California to rise
2) California will soon have the highest energy price in the nation
3) Businesses will soon move out of California
4) California total tax revenue will decrease as businesses and associated jobs leave California
5) California government will reach a financial crisis
6) Democrats will attempt to save California because it is too big to fail by taxing the rest of America.
And let’s make sure to leave all that wood in forests so that we keep burning thousands of acres every time there’s a spark, okay Jerry?
There is no such thing as perfectly “clean” energy.
The so called clean energy is no better in that regard.
These people are just retarded.
Brown can never run for California Governor again...he has held the office for 4 Four terms.
He is following the Obama script:
Salt the Land & scorch the earth. Destroy everything so nothing remains for the successors.
Much of Texas is off the national grid. ERCOT is the in state grid for Texas.
Power does not cross state lines, Feds cannot seize control.
Maybe Cali can do the same. It’ll be fun to watch.
Jared polis wants that crap for commierado.
This is really bad! Now these assholes will be moving to the red states to turn them blue.
You must have slipped by the last sentence in my post.
“How many of these comments are based on fact, education in the field of public energy supply and /or having actually studied and seen the records for california energy use history?”
I’m a Nevada mechanical engineer who has written two books on Yucca Mountain. I don’t even hate solar, but I’ve gone through the eneergy analysis game numerous times. I visited Solar One in the late 80s. My 7th grade science project 55 years ago was a solar collector.
Ok, so I’m no neophyte, and I’m telling you solar just isn’t going to fly. It sucks up huge amounts of physical resources, has pollution problems, and huge transmission grid problems. I should write a book on the problems.
That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have niche uses, but I don’t see it accounting for more than 30%.
The future is 4th generation fail safe molten salt modular nuclear reactors. Essentially infinite energy in dense packages.

You sir, are a sage
OTOH, liquid sodium didn't work out so well for Fermi 1, you have to keep it hot to keep it from solidifying.

Next up: California passes law to mandate fart reduction and elimination by 2034. Called the “Breaking Balloon” project it proposed the use of fart trappers on all California residents, pets and livestock.
So nuclear only? No dead birds there. Scary Gerry must have become a lot smarter than I remember him from the 70's, but what will his constituent tree-huggers say? They hate nukes. [/s]
Pass a federal law no energy from national grid because it may violate state law
