No NFL players visibly kneel during season opener
The Hill ^ | 09/06/18 | Emily Birnbaum

There were no visible demonstrations by NFL players during the national anthem before the season opener on Thursday night.

All of the Atlanta Falcons and most of the Philadelphia Eagles stood throughout the anthem, including players who have previously demonstrated, such as Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins.

Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett wandered around the bench throughout the anthem and sat down near the end, but he did not kneel.

Most of the players reportedly had their hands over the chests throughout the anthem.

Last month, several Eagles players, including Jenkins, did not take the field during the national anthem at a preseason game, extending the ongoing protests by NFL players. Jenkins also raised his fist during the national anthem at a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Players have stated the protests are a stand against racial inequality and police brutality.

President Trump has taken on the NFL protests as a lightning-rod political and cultural issue, claiming the NFL demonstrators are unpatriotic.

Trump on Wednesday slammed the NFL and Nike after Nike featured free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face of its latest ad campaign.

Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the national anthem to protest the treatment of people of color in the U.S. in 2016.

"Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts," Trump tweeted on Wednesday. "As far as the NFL is concerned, I just find it hard to watch, and always will, until they stand for the FLAG!"

Trump also briefly mentioned support for the flag during a rally in Billings, Mont., on Thursday night.

The NFL sought to end the controversy earlier this year with a policy that prevented players from protesting during the anthem. The policy was later frozen after the league fielded criticism from supporters and players.

Nobody knelt at the Trump rally, which is what I watched.

We watched the entire rally as well. No kneeling at Trump rallies.

What's this thing called 'NFL'??

The thing that turns me off is that there is absolutely no self-policing. You can do a swishy celebration dance or chest slapping display after a meaningless play and nothing will happen, the players don’t care about that crap or the actual rules of the modern era sport don’t allow men who actually do care to do anything about it. Garbage.

There was such an easy out for this.

It was work time. The players are there being paid and they working for the owners. That’s all the owners had to say.

Instead then owner’s family jewels crawled up their insides to their tonsils, and they started talking two octives higher as they cow-towed to their jerk players.

This isn’t a big thing, but I’ve always enjoyed the game. It reminded me of a military operation trying to take ground. Some quarterbacks and teams were masterful at it, and it was a pleasure to watch them.

About four years ago the Redskins were getting heat to change their name. Instead they seemed to say screw you, and they didn’t budge an inch. I respected that. During the process I was in a curio shop, and I saw a Redskin pendant. I purchased it to make a small statement in favor of the team name, hoping sales might make a difference.

If it had’t worked, I’d still have the pendant to remember a better time in the U. S.

Now I wouldn’t watch a game if it was on in the room. I just don’t care. The players and their sorry ass pussies who own the team, and the NFL leadership, and ESPN, have completely destroyed the game for me.

It used to be a way to relax, enjoy an afternoon or evening with the boys. Now it’s an afternoon or evening with Leftist radicals who have no idea how life works.

If they tried real hard, they would know why more officers are in the Black communities. They would know why those officers take no guff. They would realize that black gangs and Hispanic gangs bring trouble to their community, and to themselves.

Instead they blame it on police officers who would gladly sit in the police stations of America, if there was no crime.

Duh.

I sill say...

The trend in the big three pro-sports is to make it easier to score. Because modern casual fans don’t grasp the enjoyment of watching well played defense, and they want the biggest audience. If it isn’t scoring, it’s boring to them— nothing exciting is happening for them. Both NFL and NBA have the offense in control of the ball, and it looks like someone is being mugged if they play well played defense to a casual fan. MLB is lucky that the defense having control of the ball looks good.

Why watch a bunch of steroid-enhanced people beating each other up? I was busy watching a “Last Man Standing” marathon on TV. Much better entertainment!

Clarification:

I was leading into talk of the pendant I purchased when I made this comment.

This isn’t a big thing, but I’ve always enjoyed the game. It reminded me of a military operation trying to take ground. Some quarterbacks and teams were masterful at it, and it was a pleasure to watch them.

More words were added between "...isn't a big thing..." and the mention of the purchase of the pendant, making it seem like this phrase was addressing the kneelers. It wasn't.

It was meant to address the purchase of the pendant.

THe Hill called Kraperneck a “free agent”. Those who live in really call him “unemployed”.

There is a difference between slanted news and real news. Someday The Hill might learn what it is.

The NFL is fake competition anyhow. Should be called national fools league. They have all these people thinking it’s somehow their city vs some other city all while each team is made up of people from all over the country vs another group of people from all over the country. When the Bills play Miami this year there will be little if any native representation on the field for either team. What a farce.

That's what I've always thought even when I used to watch. Another team offers a player a dollar more and off they go...

The NFL is damaged goods in so many ways. It’s a horrible product that gets worse ever year.

What’s wrong with them? are they trying to make the other players look bad? The Players Association will have to have a talk with them!

A lot of the NFL player have contracts with NIKE. Kneeling now can cost them their own money so they don’t want to kneel anymore.
