How does “23 And Me” play into this? I sure as hell won’t be offering that up.

Remember that series on TV named “Lost”?

Remember that weird underground bunker?

That’s DARPA.

Since I never watched "Lost" I have no idea what you're talking about.

Besides, wasn't it a rip-off of Rod Serling's "The New People?"

Well, it was once financed, in some way, by Google (a top person). $5 million I believe.

Google had many investments. Like Boston Dynamics, which invented the creepy robot things. Cool but creepy. (see Youtube videos of Boston Dynamics)

Rumor has had it for a long time that Google had a sort of silent partner. /cough

DARPA knows I couldn’t resist going to Golden Corral today. I’m stuffed. ECHELON already knows the young gal at the register gave me a senior discount because I was nice to her even though I’m only 46.

You bet! Sometimes add a little paprika and/or garlic salt / garlic powder / onion powder / salt / pepper.

Lots of ways to play with that.

Sometimes I mix a little mustard with the mayo.....

I have no doubt they're building a massive DNA database. Not actually, DNA, of course.

Digital coding sure.

But in ADDITION a monstrous actual DNA data base.

Look at all of the companies trolling for suckers to send their DNA in to check their ancestry.

And millions do.

If these companies weren't created by the gov to get this info, you can bet that they get all that info from the companies.

Yep - multiple collection points

The digital signature. In the right hands, a powerful tool.

In the wrong hands......

“required a valid cell phone number to create a new one.”

Wow. That is scary. Just watch one day of Investigation Discovery to realize that a person pretty much can be tracked by the second via cell phone.

Maybe add a new line to your existing account, activate it, but don’t use it. Still that’s $10 or $20 wasted each month.

Don’t do FB.

Oh, of course it does. They wouldn’t miss passing up the opportunity.

“I was just thinking today about the DNA collection ...”

Just today that occurred to you?

I can’t imagine that anyone would voluntarily submit a sample of his DNA to any organization, government or otherwise. Not only can it be used to get personal info about someone for certain reasons, but also it can be used to plant someone’s DNA where that person never was.

My friend worked for a police department in SoCal, and she did weird things when we went out to eat. Always asked for paper or plastic glass and took it with her when she left — and other similar things. She wiped down” utensils that she couldn’t take. I asked her why and she said she had “seen too much”, but wouldn’t go in to details.

I dunno. Technology is a blessing — and a curse, I guess.

“I don’t know about all of the services, but 23andme sequences only a small part of the total genome, and concentrates on known SNPS”

But they have ALL of a person’s sample. They tracked that serial killer in CA via a relative’s 23 And Me sample. Whatever they sequence and concentrate on is enough to invade your privacy and wreak havoc on your life if so inclined.
