A fiery, old-school pastor who is under fire for saying black America is losing "its soul" at Aretha Franklin's funeral stands firm by his words with the hope critics can understand his perspective.
Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. told The Associated Press in a phone interview Sunday he felt his sermon was appropriate at Franklin's funeral Friday in Detroit. He felt his timing was right, especially after other speakers spoke on the civil rights movement and President Donald Trump.
"I was trying to show that the movement now is moving and should move in a different direction," he said. "... What we need to do is create respect among ourselves. Aretha is the person with that song 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T' that is laid out for us and what we need to be as a race within ourselves. We need to show each other that. We need to show each other respect. That was the reason why I did it."

That is why have the prophets. They not only of the future but also called people back to God.
Correction: That is why we have the prophets.
Please see posts ## 21 and 22. Thank-you.
Agreed.
Take another look at the chart, and focus on the X-axis around the year 1975.
The white illegitimacy rate was around 6%, but the black illegitimacy rate was 50% and growing at an exponential rate.
The politicians, the black leaders, the Sociologists, the professors, the journalists in the media, the Federal government, the State governments, and most black churches KNEW this was a horrific and terrible problem. And they chose to not only ignore it, but they made it even worse in the years to come.
Black women, with almost zero job skills, having multiple bastard children by multiple fathers in order to get checks from the state and Federal government was a recipe for social disaster. And yet, we are following that recipe even to this day. "Welfare reform" was gutted by Obama, because he eliminated the work requirements, or watered them down so as to make them meaningless.
Galatians 6: 6-7
"7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
That is why many countries in Africa are sending Christian missionaries to that half of Europe and to America. Itis coming full circle.
The good news is that we are starting to have that turn around by the Trump White House. But it is a start.
The three most strong and Biblical Christians in my workplace are all African-Americans. And by strong Biblically, I mean it. They are incredible. They know their Bible, and they are fierce in proclaiming and defending God's Word.
We recently met with a beautiful young couple are going to be missionaries - to France! France, you say. Yes, France. The percentage of Bible believing Christians in France is estimated to be 0.4%. And while many French say they are Catholic, a very small percentage of the population actually practices Catholicism.
I have also met black who are real Africans. To say they are 180 degrees out of phase from many African-Americans is an understatement. Culturally and philosophically, the differences are profound. And yes, Christian black Africans are among the most courageous and on fire for the Lord on the planet.
Yeah. That's why they support abortion, homosexuality, atheism, evolution, "transgenderism," and taunt as "racists" any white who doesn't do the same thing.
Christian Black Africa is another great reservoir
That is much truer. Many Africans haven't sold out like "African-Americans" have.
and together the two can save the world.
Black Africa may try. "African-Americans" won't, their interest being all "social justice" all the time.
Blue footed boobies.

I should have guessed a FReeper would beat me to it!
Yes, France is desperately in need of salvation. All of Western Europe is. And in the Europeans' decadent desperation to atone for all the horrors of the past, and the damnation of their subconscious desire to repeat them, they will face a dilemma when black Africans come preaching as missionaries to show them the way that they have lost.
Some Black Americans have succumbed to decadence. Some have not.
They're talking about this pastor?
I thought they were talking about this one.
# 29 too
OK now I see the relevance. Good one too.
I am the REVEREND!
I conceive it and I believe its!
That breast should be mine
Because it's so very fine
You know I love them, 'cause they rhyme with grits!
Bill Clinton sure looks happy, and at a funeral.
Blue-footed boobies.
You are dead wrong about France. While it is no longer the Catholic bastion it once was, I can guarantee 0.4% of Bible Believing Christians is outrageously ridiculous. I lived there for the greater part of 30 years and in different parts of the country from Paris to the South.
