Who Really Started the Trump-McCain Feud?
American Thinker ^ | 08/31/2018 | Brian C. Joondeph

Posted on 08/31/2018 8:03:29 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

With Senator John McCain's recent passing, the Trump-McCain feud has heated up. It's really a manufactured kerfuffle, as one party is saying little, and the other party has departed from the living, no longer able to participate in the feud, except posthumously via the media.

Leave it to the media to resurrect the controversy between the late senator and the U.S. president as a means of bashing President Trump, whom the media detest. It is also a distraction from the stock market breaking records left and right, a new and better trade deal with Mexico, a country that the media constantly tell us hates Trump and won't do business with him, Bruce Ohr's congressional testimony, and other news the media would prefer to ignore.

Trump has been criticized over the past four days for his response to Senator McCain's passing. He wasn't personal enough, they say, even though the president appropriately tweeted, "My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!"

Then the media fussed and pouted over how long the flag over the White House should be flown at half-mast. The flag flew that way appropriately after McCain's death, but the time period wasn't enough. CNN probably wants it at half-mast permanently until Trump is out of office, although another six and a half more years at half-mast might be a bit excessive.

The feud started because Trump doesn’t believe in wasteful Neo-Con foreign wars, while McCain never met a war in which he didn’t want to send young Americans to die or lose body parts.

Mitchell obviously didn’t look up the flag protocol.

Why do that when you can mindlessly slander the president without cause?

Trump has had a very close relationship with our Vets going back back decades.

He has given up thousands of hours of his own time and tens of millions of dollars from his own pocket to support Vets groups. And all of this he has done without any publicity.

Mcshame is despised amongst most Vets due to the cowardice and recklessness he showed in Nam. Trump has no doubt been been heavily influenced by conversations with these genuine heroes

Ask anyone who brings up McCain being a Hero because he was captured to name all the other Heroes who were in the Hanoi Hilton with him.

Then they can name which ones used ther Captivity to attain Political Office.

The last question to them of course, did they Contribute to McCain’s 2008 Presidential Campaign and Vote for him in the Election like Donald Trump did?

And the fact that he singlehandely saved Obamacare from its own end.

I will never forget that "hero" did the "thumbs down" thing in front of the entire Senate. Not only stopping repeal of Ocare; but, he had to make a show of it. Terrible person.

I have been turning off the news broadcasts for days now as they try to convince me that he was some wonderful person.

How did he conduct himself in his Navy career after he returned? Remember Keating 5?

Thank you. I was just telling my daughter yesterday that he was involved in a large scandal; yet, you hear nothing about it.

Andrea Mitchell is no Spring chicken...she will roll over to 72 on Oct.30...HAPPY HALLOWEEN...maybe she can dress up as a monkey? ya think?

Her days are closing in, as they do for everyone who gets to the 7th century of their life...

Today in the Capital rotunda I looked at all the old folks serving in Congress, shook my head..and said to myself...TERM LIMITS IS PAST DUE...CLEAN HOUSE VOTERS...GET SOME NEW, YOUTHFUL, EDUCATED PEOPLE IN CONGRESS...

How will you view him after he is elected to public office, continually betrays his country for decades to come, up to and beyond his death as much as he legally can?

I wasn't approving of McCain receiving the Bronze Star, I was pointing out the hypocrisy. My Brother In Law survived Bataan Death March and got squat for it.

POW status is NOT HERO status.

As contrast, Admiral James Stockdale (then Cmdr) was also shot down and held as a POW at the same camp as McCain.

However, as the senior officer, Stockdale organized the prisoners into a unit, instituted a code of conduct for resistance, torture, behavior, and secret communications.

Because Stockdale was the prison camp resistance leader, he was moved to isolated cells, given extra beatings, and even mutilated himself to avoid being used for propaganda purposes.

For this behavior, Stockdale was awarded the Medal of Honor. That's how one becomes a hero as a POW.

If you read the article, you would have found that on July 16th, 2015, McCain "drew the first blood":

Reported in The New Yorker on July 16, 2015, a few days after a Trump campaign rally held in Phoenix, in McCain's home state, McCain offered his displeasure over the rally. "It's very bad," he said. Going farther, "[t]his performance with our friend out in Phoenix is very hurtful to me," McCain said. "Because what he did was he fired up the crazies."

"This rally was held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, as reported by Politico. The dates are important."

It's no different than Hillary calling us all "deplorables."

The article goes on to say:

"Insulting Trump-supporters is the same as insulting Trump, at least in Trump's view. As he is hardwired to do, when insulted, he hits back."

"In Iowa, a week later, on July 18, 2015, Trump was interviewed and delivered his response to McCain's calling Trump-supporters, and, by default, Trump himself, 'crazy.' Trump said, 'He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured.' "

So clearly, McCain started the feud when he attacked we, the people, which he has done his whole Senate career. I'm glad the POS is dead. It didn't come soon enough.

I think they were both responsible for it. The feud was genuine and it was inevitable. Neither one could ever have gotten along with the other.

Unlike Odumbass who flew it at half-staff for entertainers Trump was following the rules.

The President can override protocol regarding the flag at any time by merely issuing a proclamation.

My recollection is Trump started it with “he’s not a hero, heroes don’t get shot down comment. He also insulted mist of his republican opponents in a juvenile way. he emasculated jeb bush for instance. When you see how the Bushes respond it’s understandable. You can’t humiliate and insult people and expect their support.
