Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis did an interview with Fox News on Wednesday where he used a…um, questionable choice of words when talking about his Democratic opponent, Andrew Gillum.
As DeSantis spoke to Sandra Smith about how he secured the Republican Party nomination last night, he was asked how he plans to beat Gillum now that they’re about to go head-to-head. Since the Tallahassee mayor is campaigning on progressive policies with support from Bernie Sanders, DeSantis acknowledged Gillam as an “articulate spokesman for those far left views” who moved forward with more charisma than other candidates in the democratic primaries.

Harry Byrd was more consistent than any other Senator--Democrat or Republican in fighting the New Deal, and even as far away as my native Cincinnati was a mentor to me. While I became a Republican in 1964, I could not have advised any Virginian to vote for Allen--if he went out of his way to disrespect Harry Byrd over an issue which was not even current at the time.

Honestly, I think so many people are sick of this crap that if he doubled down and made it clear that it’s a term he uses, it means messing up, and there’s a pretty good chance that he’ll be using it again.

Just push back harder and don’t apologize. He was CLEARLY talking about a socialist agenda and it had nothing to do with race. Trump would push back on it just like he did about the “Mexican judge” or making hand gestures about the reporter he’d met one time 25 years ago and didn’t know had an arm disability. There’s no reason for DeSantis to let the media define him to help their democrat friend like Allen let them help Jim Webb.

My point is not that the fear is irrational but that to surrender to such fear only brings more fear (i.e., “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”). The bullies on the Left — as do nearly all petty tyrants — thrive on the fear of their sworn enemies.
