Bottom Line: Trump Did What McCain Could Not
Eagle Action Report ^ | 8/27/2018 | Felicia Tweedy

It wasn't until recent years that I found myself in opposition to John McCain. The once "maverick" and "hawk" was anything but. He became a bought and paid for politician that had many in his own Party, turning on him. If it wasn't enough to learn about the numerous donations from George Soros linked businesses to his campaigns, with the rise of Donald Trump, we saw a very bitter and embattled man, who lashed out in policy decisions from what appeared to be his own personal issues.

Trump did what McCain could not. Trump went on the attack - even brutally at times - and got away with it. Trump transformed the Republican Party during his run for the White House and worst of all for McCain, Trump now occupies the White House, which McCain never achieved.

To paraphrase Blake Shelton:

I’m still alive
But bugs are eatin’ your hair.

If I’m slammed him it’s only because he left himself wide open on this one.

It seems to be giving you quite a thrill.

Trump should have issued a quick press release saying “,,,White House flags will remain at half staff ‘til after the funeral”

If you do it for one, you have to do it for all. He wisely followed the Federal code, which is day of death and one day afterward for sitting members of Congress, and the next day the WH protocol staff (not the President) returned the flag to its lawful position. Then, aided by the yelling of the butthurt, POTUS had cover for raising it again due to "special circumstances." Winning!

You may recall the Queen of England went through this same dilemma and hysteria when she did not lower the flag at Buckingham Palace when Diana died, for two valid reasons of protocol—one, the flag is only run up the pole at all when the Queen is in BuckPal, but she was staying with Will and Harry in Scotland so they could deal with it; and two, Diana was divorced and no longer a member of the Royal family. Only the hysteria whipped up by the tabloids made her break tradition and lower it.

For a head of state to bend to emotion from the jump means that the same demands would be start to be made by the mob (leftists, Democrats) for every leftist's death as a way to create the false impression that lefties and their foul deeds deserve top honors, no matter how relatively inconsequential or evil their actions were in reality. As a result, those who really should be honored according to our republican constitutional traditions would be reduced to nothing special due to this media-created, emotion-driven "participation trophy" ritual carried out every time a socialist scoundrel dies.

” Cave.”

It’s called “picking your battles.” No sense in going against the grain of adulation for that politically flawed man from Arizona. Like the man himself, once the plug is pulled, this will die out quickly in the next news cycle.

The media is greatly overstating the level of adulation.

Their concern over the flag is just part of the “honoring John McCain” farce they’re putting on. These are the same people who have been defending the unpatriotic flag kneelers to the hilt. But suddenly, they believe in the flag. If they really did, they would have known the protocol. They care NOTHING for our flag, or John McCain, for that matter. It’s all just an excuse to gang up on Trump. Surely the family knows that. I’d be furious, if MY dad or husband was being used like that. Of course, the man DID have supporters. Some of them may be sincere. But I have noticed that every single guest who comes on the news to lionize him, laughingly includes in their spiel, how mean and cantankerous he often was.

His WH has "bent the rules", which by the way is his prerogative regarding flag protocol, for others. There is no flag protocol regarding flying the flag at half staff for former first ladies, yet Mrs. Bush was given the honor of the WH flag at half staff until her burial. And was an appropriate gesture. So he's bent to emotion before.

Despite McCain, the President should have been the bigger man. But the President made and took it personal and in the end, he lost. The flag is at half staff.

Diplomacy would have never raised the flag only to lower it again.
.............................................................
Educate yourself! Flag etiquette clearly states that for a Senator the flag is at half staff the DAY of DEATH and ONE DAY AFTER. That is the limit according to the law. Trump made the decision to extend due to the freakouts of part of the American Citizenship. His choice.

Locally the networks are interviewing “Vietnam vets” that universally praise McCain for his “Maverick” crossovering to join in with Democrats on various issues. Most of these “Vets” self identify as Democrats or are obviously left leaning.

Lefties like McQueeg??? Say it isn’t so Martha!

In the 90’s I was saying there would come a time when conservatives would be fighting tooth and nail, just as liberals and feminists did for Bill Clinton, for someone with poor morals, who told lies, who had a poor history with money among other things simply because in other key areas they were achieving what those constituencies wanted. That day has come. Conservatives will never again be able to take the high road against liberals regarding poor morals and scandals.
