President Donald Trump will officially not be attending Sen. John McCain’s funeral, a spokesman for the deceased lawmaker said Monday.
McCain passed away Saturday evening after a nearly year-long fight with brain cancer. McCain passed away only one day after announcing that he was discontinuing treatment for his illness. The former senator continued to carry out his senatorial duties while undergoing treatment.
McCain previously made his funeral wishes clear to Trump months before he died. The senator and president feuded several times throughout the 2016 presidential campaign and while in office, with McCain casting the deciding vote against an Obamacare overhaul.

The last vote he made was in Dec 2, 2017 and he missed about 35 Senate votes since then. Arizona has been on ‘half representation’ in the Senate for over 8 months.
The honorable thing to have done would have been a resignation in Jan or Feb.
Trump is honoring McCain’s wishes, but beyond that, Trump would have to sit there and listen to Bush, Obama, and others trash him openly. Thank God he sees this clearly.

Spot on post. I think he has been on life support for sometime too. Notice how quickly they got his hearse motorcade rolling? He never was in front of cameras and he was a major camera hog.

Colossal ego, vindictive and small to the very end. McCain wanted a ceremony fitting for a President or a King. He decided who was worthy to attend. Obama, Hillary, Bush and the rest of the political establishment will be there. McCain was far from being a “maverick.” He was as Establishment as it gets. A tool of corporate America.
McCain was, first and foremost, a poor loser.
He was also an egomaniac.
Taken together, he hated his Republican rivals more than anyone one Earth.
Is the cemetery at the Naval Academy open like Arlington, or is fenced and secure?
If it is locked down with limited access is a clue why McCain pick it.

The man was known to declare Clinton, Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and other notable Leftists as his friends. I don’t recall him ever stating leading Republicans were his friends.
