A hurricane warning has been issued for Oahu as Lane continues to track toward the islands as a massive Category 4 storm.
The Big Island and Maui County also remain under a hurricane warning, while Kauai County is under a hurricane watch.
Lane was centered about 260 miles south of Kailua-Kona or 385 miles south-southeast of Honolulu and has slowed to just 8 mph.
Hurricane Lane passed just south of the Big Island on Wednesday morning and is now marching northwest, bringing it "dangerously close" to the island chain as a hurricane Thursday through Saturday.
Heavy rains from Hurricane Lane started to impact the Big Island and Maui on Wednesday, triggering flooding in some spots, and forecasters warn the cyclone's "very close" pass on Thursday and Friday is slated to bring strong winds, torrential showers and monster surf to the entire island chain.

A friend of mine lives on Oahu. She has stocked up but is more concerned about the water damage and power loss. She has dogs but has plenty of food for them too. Her landlady is the opposite. She is flying by the seat of her pants. I guess she believes my friend should just be generous. smh
Keeping all in my prayers.
Good luck to you and all there. Here was a slight curiosity I had. Article doesn’t give many answers though,

At least the volcano has been settling down in the last few days.
Im in Honolulu right now, bars and some restaurants are closing early tonight, many schools and busses are closed tomorrow. Theres been a run on bottled water. Gas stations have long lines, kinda reminds me of MA when the media scares everyone about an impending noreaster.
Lots of trucks and cars carrying plywood and sandbags, but I havent seen anything boarded up yet on this island.
And given us some great sunsets finally.
So good to be able to see the horizon again.
I’m heading for Kauai next month. Any advice on best snorkeling, restaurants, etc.?
Or am I being insensitive about the current problems there?
I thought they were typhoons out in the Pacific that far.
Not to get off topic, but what would happen if a volcano erupted during a hurricane?
Now that they've exhausted "Sharknado," (I hope) maybe the SciFi channel can get on that...
This immense rain fall should make Hawaii’s sugar cane crop to become a monster harvest.

Looks like it’ll keep a good distance from all the islands... seems to be veering west a bit. Lots of rain on the south side of the islands, but probably that’ll be the worst of it.
