An Arizona father faces a second-degree murder charge after he allegedly hit, stomped and kicked a man who tried to get into a bathroom stall his teenage daughter was using.
Melvin Harris, 40, is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond for allegedly killing a man police identified as Leon Leevon Armstrong at a Phoenix QuikTrip convenience store in early August.
Harris fiancee, Diana Jackson, wonders when shell see him again. She says despite the murder charge against him, Harris did nothing wrong.

This happened to me, though it did not go this far. If the perp did not touch her or proposition her, there is actually little, if anything, the police can or will do.
My girl dropped some books off at the library and this homeless guy was whistling and kissing at her. I called the police. This POS knew there was nothing the police could do. He calmly sat there and did not even leave. The police said they could not make him leave as it was a public place and in the eyes of the law he had not done anything wrong. Had I reacted otherwise, I would be in a world of trouble.
Because the father engaged with the man after the fact is the reason they are seeking second degree murder charges. Had he stomped him in the bathroom, it would be manslaughter charges.
When I was a child, the police would have run Armstrong out of town, at the very least, and in all likelihood, they would have taken him somewhere and beaten him enforcing the idea that he NEVER show his face in that town again.

Apparently NOT a crack kid who invited this guy into the stall...

“.I bet backwoods justice will be a thing.”
It alllllllready is.
I live near a large federal game reserve. A lot of people, particularly in the Northeast have already decided that following the procedures is nothing more than a way to muddy up their own waters.
It’s hard not to agree.
The flip side of the coin....
If the dead man had a firearm and shot and killed the outraged, violent father, would everyone on this thread agree that the dead man was lawfully exercising his legal rights under “Stand Your Ground” laws?
Correction, the photo of the Daughter is incorrect, she is currently age 16.
You are correct, My Bad, post #46 corrects my mistake.
Thanks for helping fix my error!
Yep.
i thought it was his teenage daughter
Not an error man... Just a different righteous source with a better picture. :)
Thank you for posting this... As an Arizonian this is important to me. Unfortunately it all boils down to what color that 16 year old black crack head who invited him into the stall and deserved it actually looks like around here. Because we just know that’s the case... All the time... Every time...
As a father of three girls and the Grandfather of 11 Grandchildren of which three are Gran-daughters, I can say that if A guy followed one of my Grandsons into the stall I would have done the very same. In a heartbeat...
He wasn’t protecting anyone at that point. The guy had already left the scene. He followed and beat him to death. Huge overreaction, manslaughter for sure. I sympathize with him and hope he gets a light sentence, but you can’t just let people go around killing people after the fact.
Wasn’t your daughter. Keep your mouth shut. Idiot.
Time for jury nullification
The dead man had a criminal history of shoplifting, trespassing and obstructing police, if he had a gun it's likely he would be in the commission of three more felonies.
Harris admitted to punching the dead man but said the man swung at him first, so it may be that the dead man had no right to "Stand His Ground" and use the gun he was proscribed from possessing.
It also may be that the dead man was unfortunate enough to lose the fight that he started.
It may again also be that the recent criminal acts of the dead man against Mr. Harris' Daughter and Mr. Harris himself, so angered Mr. Harris that he could not discern when the dead man was no longer a threat.
Finally, how would I know what "Everyone on this thread" would agree to?
Surely you mean "tactics".
No, I meant ‘tact’ LOL! It was a sensitive issue and should have been done tactfully!
And pray for the jury. Do your duty and send a message, Ladies and Gents, and send this man home.
I think I could tactfully beat someone to death......
