TSA Administrator David Pekoske said a surveillance program known as "Quiet Skies," which has been criticized for tracking American citizens not suspected of any crimes, "makes an awful lot of sense."
"Our job overall as an agency, and the air marshals in particular, in flight, are working to make sure that we mitigate any risks that could occur in aircraft at 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 feet," Pekoske told CBS News in his first TV interview since the "Quiet Skies" program was disclosed to the public. "If an agency responsible for security has some information that might indicate that there may be -- emphasis on may be -- more risk with a particular passenger, providing some mitigation or some risk management on the flight is a very important and very reassuring thing to me."
"Quiet Skies," first reported by The Boston Globe, dates back to 2011. It uses computer software to flag travelers, including U.S. citizens, who could pose a threat but may not have been accused of a crime and are not on the No Fly List.

Tyrants hate the 4th amendment. That is why the founders wrote it.
It does make a lot of sense.
If you’ve flown recently, have you paid particular/undue attention to someone acting differently than everyone else? Standing up in the aisle and looking around? I have. We will not let it happen again, and thankfully we have air marshals doing the same.
You don’t get to make that decision, you petty little tyrant, and you should lose your job over making it public that you believe that.
Good thing I won’t submit to being herded like cattle then being treated as a terrorist. Then having to pay their prices for the privilege.
I am tired of people dying for PC.
Vent the Muslims, put crazy people in nut houses.
It’s easy if you try.
I would love to see “smoking Joe’s” head explode.
Scanners for you kids out there.
Makes sense to traitors.
I missed the funeral of my old friend, probable cause .
Repatriate the Islamic invaders and we can have most of our liberties back. Keep them inside our country and well have the proverbial safety of a tyrannical police state. Take your choice. Im outta here soon anyways.
Could you elaborate? Not sure how agreeing makes me a traitor.
“If you want a vision of the future.....”
I just hope we don’t profile Muslims who attend radical mosques where they scream “Kill Americans!” or “Death to Israel” or anything like that.
Because that would be like crazy or racist or something.....
It might make sense, IF they were targeting actual likely terrorists.
I have a suspicion, based on the TSA track record, that instead they are more often following little old ladies or veterans with double hip replacements.
I heard one of the democrat candidates for Gov in Florida in a debate address school security by saying the airlines had the TSA and he wanted to get the Feds to help start the ESA, Education Safety Administration, after the Parkland shooting. These perverts want to lay their hands on our children and grope them every day as well as track their every move, public and private. Enough is enough
Won’t make a whole lot of difference. Gov already monitors phone calls, and has access to everything anyone has posted on any social media.
They sure did with my then-86 years old stepmom. Both she and my father were using wheelchairs with the assistance of airline employees (while the rest of us struggled to keep up) and every time, she had to get out of the wheel chair, take off her scarf, get bodyscanned twice, remove all her old lady jewelry, and then get patted down and yes, she’s had double hip replacements. Meanwhile, women in hijabs and full cover ups are getting a nod and a pass all around us. Not the little old white haired, white lady in a wheelchair though. Random, my left foot.
Peach
What the hell are you talking about? Are you “TSA Administrator David Pekoske”?
Nope, just a dude.
