A U.S. federal judge authorized the seizure of Citgo Petroleum Corp. to satisfy a Venezuelan government debt, a ruling that could set off a scramble among Venezuela’s many unpaid creditors to wrest control of its only obviously seizable U.S. asset.

“President Malia Obama will return it to Venezuela in 2040 with a plane load of interest, paid in cash. /S”

Absolutely NOTHING about the future of the world would surprise me! Oy!

Hmm...they owe China a lot more. Correct me if I’m wrong, but will this set up a Chinese lawsuit in U.S. courts against a Venezuelan company that is 49% owned by the Russians? My head hurts...

Venezuela is a failed state and bankrupt and soon to be no state at all as total anarchy will soon prevail.

The only real assets they have are overseas assests such as Citgo which are now libel in USA Courts for debts of the Venezuelan Government.

In reality Venezuela is no more.

ps
I lived there in the mid 70s and it was a thriving nation. There were no shortages of anything. The grocery stores shelves were full of anything you wanted to purchase.

Venezuela was also corrupt. It was no less corrupt than our nation today. The corruption and thus class envy is what elected Chaves the communist. He did not win his second election as this was electoral fraud plain and simple. Nor did Maduro win a legitimate election.

A word of caution for all. The Venezuelan Constitution was modeled on the Constitution of the United States with a fatal exception. The Venezuelan Constitution did not have the second amendment. A fatal flaw this was.

Venezuela is starving. Venezuela lives under a communist tyrany. Just imagine if those starving oppressed had AR-15s. If they did, Venezuela would be free.

Mueller and the MSM can explain it for you.

Just tune in (and turn your logic off).

No more Hernia Mesh Victim commercials, either?

These aren’t only on late nite.

They are on daytime, during sub-channel old time movies (viewed by retired boomers).

“Hmmm....it would seem that you lack imagination here.Just wait until Venezuela starts seizing stuff belonging to US companies.”

Where have you been? Ever heard of Goodyear Tire and Rubber? Yeah, the government seized that plant and all of its assets years ago.

Wonder if you can buy a new Goodyear tire in that shi+hole? I doubt it.

IIRC, Venezuela nationalized a Kellogg Cereal plant, too. For all the good it’ll do, once the silos are empty.

ConocoPhillips had been seizing PDVSA assets in the Caribbean.

i guess you’ve been living under a rock ... Maduro has already seized anything worth seizing years ago ... that’s why Conoco and the rest have sued and are in the process of grabbing all of his extra-territorial assets ... there’s nothing else left worth seizing, whether owned by U.S. companies, other foreign companies or even the Venezuelan’s themselves ... there’s not even any pots to piss in left ... everything is gone, including millions of Venezuelans, who’ve already fled to neighboring countries ... oil workers are gone ... working oil equipment has been strip-mined and what’s left is barely working if working at all ... Maduro can no longer even keep the water running in the cities or the electricity running in the cities ...

Good for ConocoPhilips. I worked on the controls systems for the Petrozuata plant in 1999. This was a joint ConocoPhilips /PdVSA plant. During the controls systems acceptance test in Houston, some of the Venezuelan technicians present at the test were already making bug out plans. It was 1999 and they already saw the writing on the wall. One of the engineers I worked with made a big move from Caracas to Fort McMurray Canada. The refinery in Jose is now a wreck.
