I like that plan.

While I was not a fan of “Marjoe Gortner” Cruz during the primaries...that was the primaries and politics is politics. Sen. Cruz is asking the President for help and I think the President should oblige.

Why not? It’s even more winning, making an ally out of a former adversary.

What Cruz needs more than to have Trump campaign for him, is to actually do some campaigning himself.

I drive Uber and Lyft in Austin so I’ve been in dozens of neighborhoods in every part of this town, and almost every one has at least one house, usually several, with a Beto sign in the front lawn. They’re everywhere. But I have yet to see a SINGLE Cruz sign, anywhere in Austin. Not a single one. I don’t even know what a Cruz sign looks like.

Is he just assuming he’ll win without campaigning? Is he even running?

Yes, I know it’s Austin, and it’s heavily leftist, but it’s not 100 PERCENT leftist. But you wouldn’t know it from looking here.

“IMHO, when it comes to this kind of thing, we need to be just like the RATs and support our guy no matter how bad. That’s what they do, and we need to the same in this case. Sure, he has made some mistakes, faults, but who to heck hasn’t. And he’s waaaaaay better than having a stinking commie RAT in Texas.

“We loved it when Keyes was picked to run. He was a favorite here.”

He was a disaster. The IL GOP had Oberweis who would have beaten Obama like a rented mule. He was self funding, owed nothing to the Combine, and would have been a reliable R vote in the Senate.

But Keyes lost in a landslide to Obama and the rest is history.

The stars in his eyes made his ass override his brains - but Ted seems to have recovered enough to deserve our support again....I bet President Trump sees it the same way.

Why else would he ask. I believe he’s up 5 at most right now.

Obama was no prize but Clinton would have won the nomination in 2008 and probably would have won due to bush, economy and war fatigue. Timing was not on our side in 2008. Clinton would not have been Secretary of State so no e-mails or bengazi.

“I hope Cruz is the next nominee after Kavanaugh.”

Didn’t PDJT promise that any/all of his nominees would be from the list he provided during the campaign? Not positive, but I don’t think Cruz is on it.

Anyhow, I’m conflicted about Trump endorsing Cruz. Cruz was Beck-ishly insane in his horrid treatment of candidate Trump. But he seems to have had a come-to-Jesus moment after that, and we probably need him.

Yes, TCruz got far more votes in his respective primary than did O’Rourke. But O’Rourke is organized, funded, energetic, and like Jimmuh Carter “does not intend to lose.”

Furthermore Trump is going to need all the Allies he can get because God forbid one Willard Mitt Romney, wins his race out in Utah

I'm pretty sure that Romney will win.

Furthermore I see a tag team of senators including Mitt and Ted working together (with stabby glen in the shadows) against President Trump whenever possible.
Especially when it comes to the wall and immigration.

Like I said though, I'm pretty sure President Trump would be helping Cruz in any way he can.
Because it's the good thing to do.

That’s ok. A couple others fell prey to it too. It’s human nature to want to boil over and fire back right away.

No I think it was Cruz not endorsing him even after the President gave him a prime speaking spot at the convention. What an ass. Anyway, he needs to be in the Senate.

I voted for Cruz in the Texas Presidential primary that year. However, I swore I'd never vote for him again after the RNC stunt. Fortunately, he came around, and so did I. I will definitely be voting for Cruz in November. But he would not need the President to come to Texas if he hadn't pulled the RNC stunt in the first place. He damaged his own brand.

I don’t think Trump owes Cruz anything, nor vice versa.

A Trump appearance-—it is clear by ALL measures now-—adds anywhere from 2-5 points to a candidate’s election totals. Maybe not that high in red Texas, but definitely some.

Does Cruz need that? Probably not. I’d rather see Trump use his time & energy in AZ, NV, MT, MI, PA, and other close states.

From what little I’ve seen, Ted Cruz seems to have conducted himself honorably towards Trump once Trump was elected. The cold shoulder he got from other Republicans after his stunt at the Convention seemed finally to have awakened him to which way is “up.”

All the bishop had to do was announce, and he was the choice of the Utahans.

Here it comes...the standard rampage about how bad Cruz is

I know. Sometimes I have to check to see if I'm still on FreeRepublic for all the attacks on a conservative Republican. It starts to sound more like the DUmp.

We need Cruz to win, but I can’t forgive Cruz for piling on and blaming Trump after the Chicago campaign event. The left infiltrated and caused a near riot, forcing Trump to cancel the event. Cruz jumped on the blame Trump wagon with the media, instead of placing the blame squarely where it belonged on the radical leftists.
