Absolutely Trump can pardon him. At the right time, he will... That’s IF he’s ever convicted.

Maybe, but anyone can see this brutally harsh punishment is a disgusting political attack on Trump.
Trump is a stand up guy and will not allow his enemies to inflict this kind of pain on his associates, just because they were once associated with him. Regardless of Manafort’s crimes, Trump cannot let this stand - he will pardon him just as soon as he can.
However, there may be complications with the timing if they drag out the pre sentence phase.
Trump can pardon him at any time, not subject to review by the courts. And no need to wait for when he leaves office – last minute pardons are a Democrat specialty.
Talk about overkill. All this does is prove to everyone that this is a partisan overreach. I think this shows that Mueller really has nothing.
It appears that justice is applied unequally depending on the defendant. Which should be news to absolutely no one who has been paying attention to how are system works.

I’ve come up with a theory about this, probably wrong, but what the hell....
It’s clear that this judge knows that this is a political circus and not a search for justice. But when he had the chance to dismiss the case, he did not. Why?
Because dismissing the case doesn’t make it go away; Mueller can refile the case and just may end up with some Obama appointee with an agenda. And a score to settle.
I’m wondering if this judge kept this case on purpose, so he can control it himself. And if this NOVA jury (probably very liberal) sends him a Guilty verdict, he has a say in sentencing.
Something like:
“Since Mr. Manafort has been in solitary confinement for a number of months, I am sentencing him to time served.” Gavel down.
And there would be nothing that Mueller and his merry band of hacks could do at that point.
Just my two cents worth.
He’s in isolation to assure his safety, not because of what he’s done. He should be thankful he’s not in the general population.
I’m still waiting for the special counsel to investigate Mueller and the deep state.

He violated his house arrest rules, so he lost his privilege and was jailed. He went to jail because he failed to follow house arrest instructions.
And he wouldn’t say it because it would weaken public support for his plight.

Mueller has bet everything on this. If Manafort walks then the blowback will be epic on Mueller and his acolytes.
