A top Republican on Sunday criticized President Trump for missing a “good opportunity” to confront Moscow about election meddling during his controversial news conference with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
“The president missed, I think, a really good opportunity to distinguish the United States from any other country, but especially from Russia,” Rep. Trey Gowdy, the chair of the House Oversight Committee, said on “Fox News Sunday.”
The South Carolina lawmaker urged Trump to listen to his advisers and the intelligence community when they tell him the Kremlin interfered in the 2016 presidential election.
If he doesn’t listen, they should step down, he said.

Russian “election meddling” is so trivial that it could only serve to waste time in a real summit which is what the private meeting was, not the multi meeting that followed it. Besides how the hell does Gowdy know what was discussed? I haven’t seen a transcript yet nor has he. Every government meddles in the politics of other countries. USA is one of the most active nations in that field.

In negotiating, when seeking common ground, when peace and ending worldwide violence is a goal, how important is confrontation? It seem acknowledgement there was electoral interference happened and a statement that there will be serious consequences if it happens again should be strongly stated before negotiations begin, and then let it go. No response needed. Say it in manner Putin knows. Then get on with business.
