[FULL TITLE] NBC: We Hear From A Single Source That Kennedy Negotiated His Retirement To Get Kavanaugh; Update: That Is Garbage
Did Anthony Kennedy cut a secret deal with Donald Trump back in November to have Brett Kavanaugh replace him on the Supreme Court? Or do media outlets need to verify claims from single sources before taking them public? NBCs Leigh Caldwell and Frank Thorp hear the pick has been locked in since November, and that the drama over the last two weeks was sheer atmospherics:

The other four names were considered cover, per source. In other words: the decision has been baked for a while: W/ @frankthorp 6:15 AM - Jul 10, 2018

so much for needing 2 sources before reporting..roflmao..
No, it was the aliens who are based in Area 51.
My retirement was planned two years out with my employer so they could replace me with the person they wanted.
Does ANYONE believe that RBG's continued sleeping on the bench for the last two year of 0's presidency wasn't orchestrated in order to allow PIAPS to fill her seat?
Does anyone believe that 0 let Garland sink the way he did without having an agreement in place with Hillary concerning that appointment?
This is heart of the SWAMP.
If I called an NBC reporter and identified myself as a friend of a WH insider who wanted to remain anonymous and told that reporter that I knew for a fact that Melania was going to file for divorce after the midterms it would be top of the broadcast news. Even though I am the epitome of a nobody in Washington DC.
What would Kennedy get? A new house on a lake in Vermont?

I’m surprised NBC isn’t saying that Trump negotiated with the Russians to elect Kav-
NBC: We Hear From A Single Source That Kennedy Negotiated His Retirement To Get Kavanaugh...
Would that be just one more UNNAMED SOURCE?
Was there a quid pro quo?
Are Presidents allowed to ask retiring SC Justices if they have a rec. to fill their spot?
I’m guessing the single source is me, because I speculated on here yesterday:
“Its quite possible that the only reason Kennedy retired when he did was a gentlemens agreement he made with President Trump that the president would appoint Kavanaugh, who is Kennedys former clerk and friend.”
That’s about as solid sourcing as most of their fake news!
I saw this on CNN’s website this morning. The talking points were distributed far-and-wide I see.
The
‘single source’ was the guy one desk over.... in the newsroom... These folks are liars... almost all of ‘em.
Didn't say they weren't; just responded to the Fake News poster with what Trump said.
As Henry Waxman used to say every time Clinton was accused of ...well, just about everything...:
SO WHAT!!!!!
I had heard the same. Probably not from the same source, but one who would have some reason to know.
I think there is some plausibility to it, though I, like the author, think it’s hard to believe Kennedy would trust such a deal when he has no way to enforce it. It’s possible that everyone took each other at his word, and I would like to believe that both the President and a Supreme Court Justice can be trusted to keep their words, but it’s hard to credit the existence of that amount of trust surrounding a deal that involves deceiving the public and subverting the Constitutional process for filling that vacancy.
I suspect Kennedy made his recommendation and that it was given some weight, but I don’t think there was any real “deal.”
Yep, that’s true. But think about it - this means that 86% of R’s, 70% of I’s, and 49% of D’s don’t trust the media, which sounds like what, maybe 60-70% overall? Yet they continue to double-down on stupid fake news.
I’m glad, but they are obviously not very smart.
I’m dying to hear the notes of Ginsberg’s heart to heart with The Donald on her replacement.
Perhaps, but most third graders, when coloring, can at least stay between the lines.
It’s true, It’s true. I was there...Standing right next to Brian Williams as Dan Rather dictated.
