I worked in this administration and it’s successor. Believe me, back then this man was pretty conservative, if somewhat feckless. He was promoted beyond his capability. Jesus said he came to preach ‘The Word’, understood to be the Old Testament, which had quite a lot to say about homosexuality and the like.
