Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reiterated through a spokesman on Friday that he is still awaiting an investigation to be completed over allegations that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) knew about claims of sexual abuse involving the Ohio State University wrestling team.
"These are serious allegations and issues," Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres told USA Today in an email. "The university has rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter. The speaker will await the findings of that inquiry."
Ryan's office had released the statement earlier this week amid the July 4 recess, but reiterated his position after more former wrestlers at Ohio State accused Jordan, a leader of the House Freedom Caucus, of knowing about alleged sexual abuse by the team doctor and not taking action.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman on Thursday became fifth former OSU wrestler to accuse Jordan of not taking action while serving as an assistant coach, saying that unless Jordan has "dementia" he knew about the alleged abuse.
Theres no way unless hes got dementia or something that hes got no recollection of what was going on at Ohio State, Coleman said. I have nothing but respect for this man, I love this man, but he knew as far as Im concerned.
One of Jordans former wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, came forward this week and said that he and his teammates personally complained to Jordan and others about a team doctors inappropriate sexual behavior many times.
Jordan pushed back strongly against the accusations in a Fox News interview Friday night, arguing that conversations in the locker room did not amount to formal accusations and saying that no one directly reported abuse to him.
Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse or reported abuse, Jordan said Friday, adding that no one ever reported any abuse to me.
Jordan denies knowing of alleged Ohio State abuse, calls timing of claims 'suspect'
Politico reported shortly before Jordans appearance Friday night that six of the former wrestlers had spoken to the publication about the alleged abuse.
Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse or reported abuse, Jordan said Friday, adding that no one ever reported any abuse to me.
Jordan said that if he had heard of the alleged abuse, he would have investigated it, adding that if in fact there were victims, they deserve justice.
Our coaching staff, we would've dealt with this, Jordan said. These were our student athletes. A good coach puts the interest of his student athletes first.
Jordan denied knowing of the sexual abuse allegations when they emerged earlier this week, and President Trump said Thursday that he "100 percent" believes Jordan.

Paul Ryan is a schmuck!
When is Paul Rino leaving?
“...”The university has rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter. ...”
Riiiiiight.
We all know of the unblemished integrity and believability of our universities these days.
Don’t put yourself out, Paul.
Go go Deep State Smear Machine!
They obviously have the goods on Paul Ryan because he does the dirty work for the Deep State whenever they want.
Maybe Paul Ryan is a "wrestler".
Ryan is correct in waiting for the results of an investigation before committing. Hopefully the investigation isn’t loaded with ideologically tainted people and is fair.
Maybe he did know. But then again maybe he didn’t.
I can tell you that this notion of prosecuting/punishing people who ‘should have known’ something, regardless of the reason they did not, is a slippery slope that leads to disaster.
Just as soon as he destroys the house for the establishment.
Was PAUL RYAN familiar with the sexual abuses of fellow Representative DENNY HASTART and those on the “hidden House of Representatives payoff list”? There needs to be an inquiry about what he knows and when he knew it. OPEN THE BOOKS.
COLLEGE AGE WRESTLERS didn’t BOP the doctor? Give me a BREAK!
Safe to say Lyin Ryan aided and abetted with the Deep State on this one!
Get the hell out ! Paul Ryan. It is beyond disgusting you won’t support Jim Jordan.
What in the world. It’s not as if they were 85-pound gymnasts.
This happened a long time ago. None of the wrestlers spoke out against the doctor during all that time?
But Jim is being talked about as speaker and BOOM!
Stinks to high heaven.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman on Thursday became fifth former OSU wrestler to accuse Jordan of not taking action. Really??? One of the toughest guys in the freaking WORLD allowed himself to be perved? And took no action himself? And 20 years later comes forward??
The Left strikes again!! They are out to DESTROY a GREAT GUY! And Paul Ryan is DISGUSTING!
Why are they only going after Jordan who “might” have known about some whimpyass doctor molesting a bunch of college “wrestlers” (Just say “no” to drugs). Where are the allegations against the doctor and OSU? I knew this was going to happen once the politicians legalized and
“taxed the hell” out of “medical” marijuana for “recreational” use. The dorks at OSU are going to “launch” an “investigation”? Seriously? ROTFL! Aren’t they one of the accused? Shouldn’t they have said something about these ALLEGED allegations?
