Kavanaugh and Hardiman concern me also.
Kavanaugh’s a Bushbot, I’d be weary too.
In the end, Rand Paul is just expressing his personal concerns, but he’ll ultimately vote for him should President Trump pick him, as Paul did with Gina Haspel despite all the initial noise from him about her.
If it were up to Rand Paul, the nominee would at least be a truly strict textualist and originalist.
Rand Paul should team up with Chuck Schumer and go for Merrick Garland. It’s only fair.
Paul is just one more puffed up ass who thinks he is or ought to be president. There only around 535 of them on Capital Hill alone, in addition to countless judges across the nation.
He wants something............
with all the gnashing of teeth about collins, I considered her a much surer thing than ol’ rand the attention whore.
The little curly-haired gayboy is always attention seeking.
Nobody knows what we will get with any candidate on the list. Some Justices change after taking the bench. The hearings are a joke, a grandstand for congress critters. Nothing is learned unless a nominee makes an unusual serious error.
The coming nominee will be superior to any Hillary nominee, and that’s what you can take to the bank.
So—Republicans are so confident of increasing their majority in the Senate that they’re comfortable insulting PDJT?
Casting a vote before being given the choice is as ignorent as demanding a judge rule on a case that has not been presented.
Meaning that senators should shut up and rubber stamp any nominee a president puts forward? Yeah, I think I saw that in the Constitution.
I have a few reservations about Kavanaugh myself, since he seems to be the choice of the establishment wing of the Republican party and seems to be heavily campaigning for the position which is a bit unseemly, while I don’t think he would be a Souter, he could end up being more like John Roberts than Alito or Thomas.
Rand Paul is right, Kavanaugh would be a bad choice, someone else needs to be nominated.
I don’t care who it is, as long as he or she clerked with Scalia. They learn everything they know from the justice they clerk for.
A-hole? Id say a principled conservative. Id rather not have a Bushie aide on the Court. Hes Justice Kennedys pick too. Neither of those things are positives. Hes not an Originalist either. Im with Rand on this one: no more mainstream, establishment Republicans on the Court when we can put a true conservative on there instead.
I dont know if I should find it amusing or disturbing that so many here are attacking Rand for insisting on an actual conservative on the Court when we have both the presidency and the Senate. From what Ive read of him, at best Kavanaugh would be another Roberts, at worst another Kennedy (although if he is the pick, I sincerely hope I’m wrong on this). I think we can do better than that.
Broken Clock Kudos to Rand !!!
Well, now that Kavanaugh has been nominated, we’ll see if Paul follows through.
