University of Toronto psychology professor Jordan Peterson has become a new favorite target of the left on American college campuses. Peterson defies the progressive narrative on gender, and other issues. For this, he is declared anti-LGBT.
Peterson is slated to give a lecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio, but a socialist student group is trying to get the event cancelled.

Socialist students seek to shut down Jordan Peterson event
A socialist student group at the University of Texas at San Antonio is promoting a petition demanding the cancellation of an upcoming lecture featuring Dr. Jordan Peterson.
The petition, which was started by a group called People Over Politics, contends that Peterson "makes a living promoting conversion therapy and spreading lies about transgender people," calling him "one of the most vocal and divisive anti-LGBTQ individuals in North America."
The Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapter at UTSA shared the petition on Twitter, urging classmates to join the effort to prevent Peterson from delivering his scheduled lecture at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts on October 10 as part of his "12 Rules for Life Tour."
Not only does the petition demand that the Tobin Center, a municipal auditorium, cancel the event, it also calls for the Center to "commit to scheduling programming that does not discriminate against people on the basis of an individual's race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability, familial status, national origin, or age."

San Antonio unveils a rainbow crosswalk and celebrates Pride this weekend, yet our city has invited one of the most vocal and divisive anti-LGBTQ individuals in North America to speak at the Tobin Center. Jordan Peterson makes a living promoting conversion therapy and spreading lies about transgender people. Considering the damage that San Antonio and our trans community would suffer if state lawmakers pass a bathroom bill next Spring, why in the world would we give this man a stage in our most celebrated performance hall?
Tell the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts to:
- Cancel their event featuring Dr. Jordan Peterson on October 10, 2018;
- And, commit to scheduling programming that does not discriminate against people on the basis of an individual's race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability, familial status, national origin or age.

A new change.org petition is asking the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts to cancel the Oct. 10 speaking appearance of Jordan B. Peterson, the conservative pop psychologist known for inflammatory statements about LGBT people and... well, just about everyone else other than straight white men.
Peterson, a best-selling author with a popular YouTube channel, found fame when, as a psychology prof at the University of Toronto, he lashed out at a Canadian bill he claimed would compel him to refer to transgender students by their preferred pronouns.
He's emerged as a right-wing media darling by presenting himself as a science-savvy intellectual who can pick apart key tenets of social-justice movements --that patriarchy exists, for example, or that institutional bigotry is real.
The Huffington Post recently wrote a glowing piece about a 10 year old drag queen. Peterson commented on the story on Twitter:

This is an example of why the left has declared him a public enemy.
So all information must be filtered by them before we can hear it?

By “diversity” they mean behavior defined by group identifiers. They are confounded and enraged by the real diversity in actual individuauls. They have a model in their head about reality...
A world they are the saviors and forward thinkers in. Jordan Peterson is one who shatters such delusions and so in defense they assign him to an evil identity group and ignore what he says.
I kind of wish they would try that here in Kentucky. We’d shut those snotty nosed kids down.
Peterson did speak here in Louisville a few weeks ago at a large theater. My friend got a picture of the protesters. There were five of them. They looked, um, interesting.
Good point. It's important we remember these loudmouth punks are few in number but very vocal. They are good at disseminating their hate via social media and comment sections because they have no life; only their rage to fuel them. They make themselves sound like many when in reality they are only a few.
They are not much more than a garden variety ant hill on fire which up close looks serious but take two steps back and anyone can see it's really nothing and it will burn itself out soon without further damage. Look at the number of them who show up for one of Mad Maxine's rallies. Just 7 at the last one and that is in the heart of leftist country.
Gee, and they would have us believe that “democratic” socialists are somehow different from other socialists such as Stalinists, Maoists, National Socialists. Republicans need to make any DSA-affiliated politcal candidates own this kind of stuff.
Yet, they are specifically discriminating against him for his sexual orientation and religion. They don’t see the hypocrisy of their statements. Amazing.
Good reason to support Jordan Peterson. I have his book. Very good.
Democrats have a taste for violent oppression now. It will only increase.
Anything associated with UT is tainted.
I tell you....if you can line up Peterson, Yaron Brook (on capitalism), and Dave Rubin for a two-hour ‘chat’....you come away with an amazing perspective of life, the economy and positive thoughts.
This will only make his YouTube videos even more viral.
And everybody wonders why I spend my spare time at the either the range or the reloading bench.
It is interesting to watch Jordan Peterson’s leftist debate opponents after he has politely eviscerated them. They usually retain the trademark leftist smug, smirky demeanor, showing no awareness that they have been publicly revealed as fools. None of them say, “Jordan, you are obviously right and I am obviously wrong. Thanks for the education.”
Of course, the organizers know better, but their new converts think they’ve come up with some startling new concept of utopia. They’re totally ignorant of history, and even those who may have a rudimentary knowledge of it, have become convinced that this ideology is a brand new, wonderful idea. They’re idiots, being lead by ravenous wolves.
If someone could get them to read M. Stanton Evans, or Whitaker Chambers, or the Russia archives, they might learn something. But, then, the organizers are smart enough to know better than to equate what they’re doing with Russia, since they pretend to have no part of THAT type of socialism. And besides, Trump Russia. It’s maddening. Pray without ceasing.
They do know how to exploit ignorance and idealism. Some on FR have dismissed actions by DSA because of its small membership. That misses the point. The point is how much Marxist, socialist and other anti-liberty ideas have infiltrated the institutions of the country —education, religion, the media, the government. A few years back, there was a Marxist conference at Northwestern University. Chicago Public School teachers and representives of the teachers’ union attended. One speaker praised the recent Chicago teachers’ strike as a step forward for the revolution.
The only way for a person to embrace Marxism is for them to be willing to overlook the mountains of corpses. Of course, it is much easier if people —especially young, idealistic ones —don’t know about the mountains in the first place.
