Graham on Roe v. Wade: Shouldn't Overturn Without 'Good Reason'

Sen. Lindsey Graham says the landmark Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion should not be overturned “unless there’s a good reason.”

In an interview aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet The Press", the South Carolina Republican said the decision has been reaffirmed "in many different ways" in subsequent rulings.

"I would tell my pro-life friends: you can be pro-life and conservative, but you can also believe in ‘stare decisis,’” he said, using a legal term used to refer to precedent.

Graham’s stance in support of Roe v. Wade came just days after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he’d retire from the nation’s high court at the end of July, giving President Donald Trump his second opportunity to offer a nomination to the Supreme Court.

Graham is against abortion much like McCain was against Obamacare.

Abortion is not the federal gub mints business.
It, is a states rights issue.
Like too many other issues the damned federal gubmint injects itself in where it has NO business being.

Well precedent for the longest time was all capital punishment was fine. But I guess some precedent is better than others.

Fed.gov stealing power from the States is a good reason. Not allowing 9 judges to force social-engineering on the entire country is another good reason.

Wonder if he'd use the same approach to slavery??

Grahamnesty and his buddies are big believers in stare decises until it comes to a ruling THEY want to overturn. Once decided their way, however, they never want it reconsidered.

After this pronouncement by Grahamnesty supporting Roe v. Wade, I cannot see how the good people of SC can elect this turncoat again.

Roe v Wade will eventually be overturned and you know what, nothing will change except some states allow abortions and some will not.

"Stare decesis" is simply a convenient procedural rule.

Ask any Democrat pontificating about precedent if he/she would overturn Plessy vs. Ferguson, for example (Scott vs. Sanford was overturned by Constitutional amendment and a lot of blood).

Hey Linda! Roe v. Wade is legalized murder. Is that enough of a reason to overturn it?
