I agree with these sentiments. Any male that is put forward is probably going to have to fight off a "Stormy Daniels" type even if it is totally fabricated (see Clarence Thomas). Having just gone through the vetting process, they will have a harder time attacking Barrett b/c they will have to simply revisit the attacks from last time which did not prevail. As I recall, Feinstein's religious attacks on her were roundly criticized, too.
As far as not putting a woman on the court b/c she "might go squishy", frankly, we have had several men go squishy, too- Souter, Kennedy and even Roberts on the ACA.

Most of the justices who have “grown” in libspeak were men. Souter was a hundred percent liberal. So was Stevens. These were Republican nominees. Kennedy and O’ Connor were center left, but Sandra still whomped the Ninth Circuit on the death penalty abomination when they tried to save the murderer of those kids in San Diego. That was her finest hour.
