For Nancy Pelosi, 78, Steny Hoyer, 79, and Joe Biden, 75, the primary results from New York’s 14th congressional district are a fire bell in the night.
All may be swept away in the coming revolution. That is the message of the crushing defeat of 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley, who had aspired to succeed Pelosi and become speaker of the House.
The No. 4 House Democrat, Crowley, 56, had not faced primary opposition since 2004. He outspent his opponent, 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who was tending bar a year ago, by 10 to one.

I could say it’s refreshing that her agenda is out in the open compared to others who have the same one but think we don’t know it but I can’t. I can picture the country as she and others want it for our grandchildren and great grandchildren and it makes me want to cry! Apparently she’s uninformed about the meaning of “Socialist” in the name of the old USSR...She’s in her twenties and still ignorant and also stupid!
Can’t wait until the old guard takes her aside in the cloak room and explains how things work. Best we can hope for is that she decides to be a fireship inside the party.

Glorious leader leads glorious revolution. Or so she thinks. What she really wants is to force the white man to pay for her constituency to live in comfort and raise many offspring.
For about 5 minutes, I’d predict, unless Nancy let’s her have her head - which I doubt. While none of these leaders do a thing for the citizens of the USA, they can be tough behind doors with their own members.
Plus of course there's the liberal bias against a white male.
Low turn out for a primary is hardly anything new. Last I saw, she was ahead by about 4100 votes, which will likely squeeze down a bit more when more absentee ballots are counted with a little bounce from provisional ballots. My own rat lizard of a congressman pulled down over twice the amount of votes of both of the candidates in this story to put it in more perspective. In theory both primaries should have an equal number of voters but looking historically, non-presidential years seem to be around this range.
He went the road of Hillary Clinton; self assured that he'd handily win the election, didn't bother to campaign, didn't push a GOTV effort, got fired by the people he represents. Now he'll enjoy his congressional retirement and probably think about picking up a senatorial bonus to further feather his nest.
Fifty years ago, the social conservatives in the south stuck with the Democrat Party for about 20 years after it was clear they no longer had a seat at the table, out of inertia, and hatred of the Republicans of a prior century.
The hard left doesn’t share, and the displaced Rockefeller Republicans now are left to wander in the wilderness, shaking their fist at the sky, like hard libertarians with money to buy influence with.
Our system unintentionally incentivizes hard lefties in safe seats in the northeast, west coast, and big cities to push hard, as their seats are safer when they push hard. Add the witches’ brew of identity politics, and you are looking at permanent minority status, with the worst of the worst using guilt, violence, cheating, to work to make up for their lack of numbers.

Only 10% turnout, in the Bronx, which is usually the most heavily Democratic County in the entire country. NYC is a hotbed of hard core communists, and it would be easy for them across the city to hop the subway and vote for a comrade in the Bronx, if the Party asked. It might indicate a trend, but it is more likely to be an outlier.
Ok she’s hot. The rats need leaders who are younger and easy on the eyes. Go back to Kennedy, Hussein, and believe it or not Billy Jeff. The ONE thing that put them over the top was the gift of the gab, not telling us who they REALLY are. Throw in Republicans sleeping at the switch and you have openings they can take advantage of. So, one democrat candidate (not even elected to anything yet) who is a socialist/communist/far off leftist makes a tide change in the democrat party? I think the left and media is so illogical that we ought not even consider the words out of their mouths as anything less than lunacy.
I believe that m any democrat ( little D-) regular folks) will listen to the DNC drivel and either stay home or maybe even begin voting for GOP or IND candidates- even democrats in general do not like commies.

Crowley was so confident of winning, he convinced the party regulars to stay home. Not even going to the debate, etc. That’s really most of why she won. And door-to-door is somewhat of a stealth tactic, on top of that.
Wrote a bunch on Facebook last night about the celebrity, superhero aspect of this. But it occurred to me that there is a “scare” element too: Americans love to be petrified about the yellow menace, the commie threat, the new Dems taking over and obliterating the United States. Let’s all relax.
Anti establishment works across party lines sometimes. Congressman who act like this guy, and don't know their own areas are easy to take down once someone fights back. Crowley ran unopposed at times. She 'punched' him in the face with her arguments.
It’s awfully soon for them to be forgetting the lesson of Hillary and complacency, I hope they keep it up.
