Rep. Steve King posted a warning on Twitter Sunday evening that the U.S. is heading toward a second civil war, comparing the present day actions of the anti-Trump resistance to the run-up to the Civil War.
King, an eight-term Congressman from Iowa, keyed off a PJ Media article about leftist protesters shutting down a Portland, Oregon ICE office and taking down the U.S. flag, replacing with an “Refugees Welcome” flag.
“America is heading in the direction of another Harpers Ferry. After that comes Ft. Sumter.”

This talk of civil war is now going mainstream. When I turned my tv on this am around 11 cst the expert guest told the Fox host the “America was now in an uncivil war” in reaction to the Sarah h Sanders restaurant incident. The host was stunned and tried to get the guy to pull his statement back. The guy instead tripled down. Not sure who he was.
They will be defeated quickly....

The scenario of 1859 or 1860 does not translate to 2018.
Back then, there was a clear geographic division of opposing states that were solidly defined in economic and cultural terms. The South raised an army of men in uniform. Battles were fought among armed combatants, and their officers wore rank and adhered (mostly) to the known laws of conflict and war.
Today's scenario is quite different. A civil war today has no clearly defined boundaries. The enemy is everywhere, in every state, city, town, workplace, and neighborhood.
No organized battle could be fought, because the enemy doesn't fight that way.
This is the Vietcong scenario times 10,000.
I can see a scenario where Trump is impeached on phony evidence and convicted and removed from office. I can see about 30 states passing ordinances not recognizing the outcome of said impeachment and recognizing Trump as President. I can see Trump flying to one of those states and setting up a a new federal govt there. I can see those states then seceding. Yes I can see that happening.

That is where the “short, glorious war” paradigm fails. This won’t be a war between states (unless it actually starts with a state seceding). This will be a war between the neighbors. It will destroy America to be rebuilt by the victors.
It can’t simply be red State vs blue state becuase even CA, IL, and MA have freedom-loving Americans and TX and ID have commie Progs. The Left thinks it can win this kind of war becuase they don’t believe that we have the stomach for it. They are partially right. The Communist playbook calls for a neighbor vs neighbor war. These little antifa and Ferguson skirmishes are their training ground, like the Nazi glider corps during the days when Germany was forbidden military aircraft.
