When police in Huntington Park shut down Pacific Boulevard in anticipation of the celebrations, fans moved one block over.
CBS2 captured video as crowds shut down the intersection of Rita and Saturn avenues while a car did donuts. Rocks and eggs were thrown at patrol cars. One man was arrested on several charges.
Dozens of people also hit the streets of Pacoima, celebrating at the intersection of Van Nuys and Laurel Canyon boulevards.
A watch commander at the sheriffs East L.A. station confirmed that extra units were deployed, but refused to go into further detail. There were no reported injuries.
All this comes after the mayhem that broke out following Mexicos 1-0 victory over Germany last Sunday afternoon. Spontaneous parties were reported in various parts of the Southland, including in Pacoima, where three people were arrested, and in Huntington Park, where one man was arrested.

I basically hate the World Cup. It’s boring and brings out the dysfunction in a lot of these third-world countries.

Some very good games the last few days, it is getting exciting. Brazil back but not quite Brazil yet, Germans escaped being out, Italy not in, France has a good chance.

Mexico's immature, effeminate behavior pretending to be hurt in this game was truly an embarrassment for masculinity on planet Earth. Or maybe it was a normal game of professional soccer.

How do you feel about the way pro basketball players act in trying to get a foul called nearly every time they move for the basket? Jumping backwards and pretending to have been knocked over.
I find the poor attempts at slapstick gyrations obvious and silly.

Brown supremacists drunk on power.
Their HOME team won. They do not consider America to be home, they consider America to belong to Mexico.

Rollerball, I think. It’s how nations go to war against each other these days cloaked in nationalist pride.

The actual games between two good-scoring teams can be fun to watch. But soccer can be a pretty boring game to watch - kick it up the field and down the field and up the field - ad infinitum and ad nauseam - and yet the world acts like soccer is something like the holy grail. I think the world is kind of screwed up.
But it’s actually the peripherals that really turn me off - like what Brazil did to get ready for the last WC, “clearing” the streets of their street children so they could look good. Barf.
