House GOP leaders push immigration vote to next week (Amnesty?)

House GOP leaders in a surprise move Thursday night pushed back a vote on a compromise immigration bill until next week, underscoring the difficulty they're facing in winning votes — and how the stakes have been raised by the crisis at the border.

The decision to delay the vote, which had already been postponed from Thursday to Friday, followed a two-hour conference meeting designed to brief members on the measure’s contents.

Lawmakers, many of them worried about backing a measure that conservatives have described as providing amnesty to some undocumented workers, had complained that they didn’t have enough time to read and digest the nearly 300-page bill rolled out late Tuesday night.

Lawmakers leaving the meeting said the bill will need to be changed even more if it is to have any hope of winning passage.

“We're going to keep working — there are good ideas being discussed. We're trying to see if we can come to a consensus,” Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) told reporters. “So there are still complicated issues we're working through, but we're going to keep trying.”

Republicans face pressure to get something done because of the week-long crisis caused by the White House’s “zero tolerance” policy on the border, which resulted in roughly 2,000 children being separated from their parents.

Sadly, just like the spending bill I am beginning to smell a rat. First it's republicans claiming they are 'feeling pressure' because of recent negative 'border press' and then, at the rally, Trump indicates that we 'need more workers' because of the growing economy.

Yep, this entire thing has the rancid odor of the last last mega-sellout spending bill.

Damn, I hope I am wrong but this delay looks like they are arm-twisting and rounding up votes.

Why bring up this toxic Amnesty mess before the midterms .

Who thinks this is a good idea.

No one wants it or cares about it .

Let it die !

“We need more workers” open borders code. I hadn’t realized Trump said that. Not good. It has the stench of sellout. Does Lying Ryan’s even have Wall funding?

Trump added that he wants them to come in 'legally' - which I guess this bill would provide.

I am still hoping the wall funding is there, which will turn off the Dems, unless the funding for the wall has so many strings that it is worthless.

Anyhow, a delay means they figure to get the votes. Otherwise, they would not string this out.

If Trump signs a bill without his 4 pillars... well, Pubs are finished at midterms... Damn, I hope Trump is bright enough to see that.

Ryan is determined to give democrats a present and give President Trump a screwing as a going-away present.

“If Trump signs a bill without his 4 pillars... well, Pubs are finished at midterms“

It might be true but it’s illogical. Ryan’s Rinos shoves through a horrible bill so you vote in the party that wants total open borders and ICE eliminated?
What sense does that make? Does Ryan’s bill have ANY of the 4 pillars? They way people here are screaming I’m Thinking not.

In the 1930s ‘Great Depression’ just after the market and banking collapse, similar to the Great Recession of our era, Americans said NO MORE IMMIGRATION, PERIOD.

And you know what happened?

FDR closed the borders to new immigrants and that lasted a long, long time.

Today, there is a cabal of interests that want cheap labor. Well, there was the same in the 1930s but FDR put Americans first.

So what is different today?

Amnesty is the only answer that we will get from Bush League Republicans.

They will have to be removed from office before we will get legislation favorable to US (US citizens).

What’s different is those are Rat votes pouring across the border and the idiots in the GOP are helping them.

This bill should be much more narrow and only deal with the mechanism by which families (actual families) are detained awaiting their hearing - none of this other piggy back stuff.

The Goodlatte Bill in the House got zero Democrat votes. Nancy Pelosi has told her minions she wants open borders. Chuck Schumer, the Democrats minority leaders said “resist” and he and his minions will vote no on any bill that funds a border wall.
Legislation in the Senate requires 60 votes for passage of a bill. There are 51 Republicans that include John McCain who voted to keep Obamacare in place so passage of any immigration bill seems very unlikely.
The question is who is funding the coyotes or human smugglers who bring the invaders into the U.S.? Why do Democrats want to protect human and drug smugglers?

There will be a massive amnesty and no wall. Take that to the bank. This country was beat 9 years ago. Very only realize it. Within 10 years there will be permanent massive Democrat majority. I wont be surprised if us “whetto’s” will be imprisoned for not being able to speak Spanish.

We are so f***ed.

When will the idiot reporters stop using the terms “undocumented” and “immigrants”?

They are illegal aliens (foreign citizens who have entered the US illegally)!

...the nearly 300-page bill rolled out late Tuesday night.
******************************
There’s the problem! The idiots in Congress (both House and Senate) don’t know how to write a succinct bill of <20 pages.

The minutia of minor details can be added as amendments later. ...What is more important is clearly stating the guts of a bill and getting it to pass.

The egotists in Congress think they have to each put their personal views in these bills, instead of considering the views of the people they were elected to represent.

POTUS Trump gave Congress a 6 month extension to come up with a bill to deal with the TEMPORARY and un-Constitutional EO that Obama issued regarding DACA.

They ignored the issue.

Now they want to include it in bills intended to secure the border and limit immigration.

DACA should be a completely separate issue. OR, Trump could just order enforcement of the law and deport the “Dreamers”. .....Probably wouldn’t play well in upcoming elections, though.

If it is Ryan’s “Compromise” bill (check out the Heritage Foundation website) it IS Amnesty.
