Attorney General Jeff Sessions is making an aggressive new move to crack down on illegal immigration, announcing Monday that the Trump administration will no longer accept asylum claims based on fear of domestic violence, gang violence or other personal crime.
Our nations immigration laws provide for asylum to be granted to individuals who have been persecuted, or who have a well-founded fear of persecution, on account of their membership in a particular social group, but most victims of personal crimes do not fit this definition no matter how vile and reprehensible the crime perpetrated against them," a Justice Department statement said.

“Being from a S&%#hole country is no longer a valid reason to request asylum...”
Yes. Maybe that is the plan now ... Let’s hope so.
If you want the AG to stop going after “reefer” how about congress making it legal. That will end the AG doing his job ..and going after marijuana IS his job until legislation changes the laws.
Just close it all down until we get a handle on the ones already here.
I thought Sessions was dead? / sarc
Me too. No matter what else trump accomplishes, if he doesnt stop the invasion and deport the illegals, the country will be ruined.
People recreate what they know wherever they go.
I’m always amazed when people attribute virtue to immigrants simply because they are immigrants.
Too many women claimed to be battered to justify welfare and illegal immigration. And they could have easily found shelter elsewhere in their home country.
It is an excuse meant to tug our heartstrings, not reality in most cases.
Don’t you dare call my country a $hit hole, you racist! But you can’t send me back to my country either because, well, it’s a $hit hole.
I love it.
Thanks for the worthless whining response.
“...the only thing that wakes Sessions up from his nap time.”
That’s so funny and original! /s
Do I agree with all of Sessions' decisions, statements, and actions? No. That doesn't change the fact that he's still far better than any AG we've had over the past 20+ years, not to mention far better than the alternatives to Sessions (e.g. liberals like Giuliani) that his critics around here would like in his place.
Europe has tried that strategy, and now they're overrun with Africans and Arabs. If we keep up that strategy, we'll continue to be a dumping ground for the worst human refuse of Central America and Mexico.
Thanks caww.
“I don’t understand the Jeff Sessions hatefest around here either.”
Maybe scapegoating Sessions is an indirect way of expressing bitter disappointment over the speed at which Trump is draining the swamp.
If they make everything Jeff Sessions’ fault, they can judge Trump’s presidency a failure, yet still claim to be loyal Trump supporters.
If that’s the explanation, I sympathize, but I think they expected too much in the way of swift and public justice, and vindication for our side.
We may not get to see Democrats being perp-walked in orange jump suits. We may have to settle for the swamp being drained slowly by attrition rather than by machete.
It’s very possible that the POTUS has determined that for the good of Republic, a peaceful draining of the swamp would be preferable to a bloody purge. Banishment from government may be the punishment of choice rather than the gallows.
If that’s what is happening I’m disappointed too - I wanted to see some of them swing - but if this POTUS can actually drain the swamp that’s far more than anyone dreamt possible - I’m not going to quibble about how he does it.
I absolutely agree!
Good post....thanks!
