Donald Trump looks and talks like a person who is mentally ill, says CNBC correspondent John Harwood, and others at the network are also questioning the president’s sanity, Mediaite is reporting.
Trump’s behavior at the G7 summit, during which he’s railed against “unfair” trade practices with America’s closest allies, suggested allowing Russia back into the fold, threatening retaliatory tariffs, and criticized presidents going back to the Eisenhower administration, has been described as “harsh” even by Fox News. But for Harwood and his CNBC colleagues, it’s more concerning than that.
Speaking to MSNBC’s AM Joy on Saturday, Harwood brought up Trump’s behavior at the summit.
“He did not look well to me in that press conference. He was not speaking logically or rationally. There was something about his affect which was oddly kind of languid from him. I don’t know what it means, but he did not look well to me.”
Harwood’s concerns were echoed by his colleagues. MSNBC contributor Malcolm Nance compared him to a monarch who’s lost touch with reality.
“He came off like Mad King Donald.”
“If you were talking to me this morning the way we just heard Donald Trump talk, I would ask you if you’d taken any medication, advise you not to operate any heavy machinery.”
Disregarding Trump’s mental health, there’s little doubt that the president has been, at the very least, inconsistent at the G7 summit. After complaining at length about trade imbalances and threatening to cut off trade with even the U.S.’ closest allies, Trump then made what Business Insider describes as a “stunning reversal,” stating that there should be no tariffs and no barriers to trade at all. This comes a week after Trump imposed harsh tariffs against U.S. allies, including Canada, Mexico, and the European Union.
This is not the first time Trump’s mental health has come up in conversation. Back in April, as Vanity Fair reported at the time, Trump advisers, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that they were concerned with the president’s mental health.
In particular, they were worried about what Trump might say or do during a five-day vacation at Mar-a-Lago with nothing on his schedule, in advance of a summit with Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.
Similarly, as Fox News reports, Trump’s personal physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, endured a barrage of questions about the president’s mental health. Jackson tried to ease concerns by pointing out that the president had scored perfectly on a cognitive test that included being told to draw a clock.
Crazy like a fox.
Apparently “insanity” is doing something different than everyone else did and clearly failed at. Trump is winning through a combination of bold and principled leadership.
The media is absolutely terrified at the thought of him making a breakthrough with the North Koreans. They don’t know how to deal with that.
Everyone who works at CNN should have to watch an hour of Hillary Clinton’s erratic unstable beahvior.
They are trying one thing after another. They all fail. Russia collusion. Sexual harassment. Beating his wife. Insanity.
Not much left that they can try. What will be the next failed accusation?
John Harwood looks and acts mentally ill. So who is he to judge anyone else?
They’ve already tried the “crazy” scheme, and it didn’t work. But, now they’re back to that again. The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. By that definition, it is they who are crazy.
Trump has turned the Left/Progs/Dems/enemedia’s world upside down. Nothing they’ve tried to bring him down & get him out of office or to resign has worked. They’re trying some of the old stuff again, hoping it will stick. It just makes them look even more like liars & purveyors of Fake News. The G7 bunch got overshadowed big time by Trump & he called them out for backstabbing, not paying their NATO part, raiding the US piggy bank, etc. etc. These world leaders aren’t used to a plain language, take no prisoners, America First brawler and they’re stunned, in shock, and miffed. Love it!
If Trump manages to get a good agreement with the NORKs & I think he’s got a decent shot at it, then it’s going to be awfully hard to keep hitting him with the “mentally ill” moniker.

Anyone with a lick of sense who has watched Trump’s pressers beyond just hacked up clips can see the man is perfectly sane and in total command ...

Is this guy a psychiatrist or psychologist? If not (and I doubt that he is), on what basis is he qualified to make such an absurd statement? The dummocraps are really scraping the bottom of the dirty tricks barrel with this one!
Trump’s trade policy is fully rational and there was no reversal: (1) you hit us with tariffs (like 270% on milk by Canada), we will hit you; (2) you drop your tariffs, we’ll drop ours; and (3) we prefer (2) but can live with (1). The LSM author of this article is a moron.
And so is Harwood.
They’re back to this again? Unbelievable. They just won’t learn a thing.
FYI, both Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill were manic depressives, and if they hadn’t been, they would not have become great statesmen, because the struggle to overcome the dark, morbid thoughts drove them on.
