NY Times ^ | June 6, 2018 | Nellie Bowles

In this deeply liberal California city, frustration over crises around housing and homelessness is bringing some on the left a little further right.

At an upscale sushi restaurant, a few dozen members of the San Francisco Republican Party gathered on Tuesday night to watch the election results. Most did not want to talk about state or national politics, they wanted to keep it local.

A person has to be in a certain spiritual state to be a leftist. That state is sealed off from reality and alternate routes to making the world a better place.

San Fran is in that spiritual state.

Know what I find funny about all of this? All these radicals are anti-establishment and Trump is anti-establishment. Yet they want the establishment to govern their lives.

Liberals are always jumping into the mosh pit after the crowd separates.

“But I don’t see how rotating the Democratic crowd out will really come to fix much. Housing is permanently screwed up....homeless people would have to be marched out of town....and you’d have to fix the budget problem (totally impossible).”

Rudy managed to do it in NYC. But it takes a really fed up population that has had enough. I’m not sure SF is there yet. It hasn’t quite hit bottom.

Now the pox that is the result of all their progressiveness can’t be explained away.

Yes it can, it has not worked quite like they want because the Republicans won't give them more money to complete their plan of Utopia for everyone. Those selfish hard working middle class Trump supporters have caused SF's decline due to their selfishness and greed wanting Trumps tax cuts.

If you look at sf election results, r candidates for such things as lt governor, assembly to run against Pelosi, etc ran 9-15 percent. Trump got 9 percent of the s f vote last November.

So we are like 9-15 percent of the vote, here.

"A Conservative is a Liberal that’s been mugged."

By reality, which has a way of slapping you upside the head when you stray from the path.
