A vocal bloc of House conservatives are fuming at Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) behind the scenes, after the lame-duck speaker publicly sided with Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) in the debate over the FBIs tactics in its investigation into the Trump campaign.
Gowdy shot down allegations last week that the FBI improperly used a confidential informant to spy on the campaign, saying that the bureau did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do.
Ryan on Wednesday called Gowdys assessment accurate, dealing another blow to the claims dubbed Spygate by President Trump.

House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) called Ryans decision frustrating.
I dont know how you can reach that conclusion based on the history of the FBI, he told The Hill.

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Ryan and other GOPe types were being briefed about this spying by the Obama admin people. They are just trying to make it look not so bad when that information is revealed.

Yep, there’s the ‘principled’ (R)N(C) for ya, yipping in the background. The finest elected bodies $$ can buy.
Prestige/power over politics, EVERYTHING over principles.
Ryan and Gowdy are a curse upon the patriots in Congress.
I can hardly wait for the two to begone. Now we need a real speaker who knows how to wage war on the left by passing populist legislation.
The current Ryan replacement is another deep state trope. We need someone from the Freedom Caucus.
