Ryan remarks on Trump ‘Spygate’ leave conservatives fuming
The Hill ^ | 06/07/18 | Katie Bo Williams and Olivia Beavers

A vocal bloc of House conservatives are fuming at Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) behind the scenes, after the lame-duck speaker publicly sided with Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) in the debate over the FBI’s tactics in its investigation into the Trump campaign.

Gowdy shot down allegations last week that the FBI improperly used a confidential informant to “spy” on the campaign, saying that the bureau “did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do.”

Ryan on Wednesday called Gowdy’s assessment “accurate,” dealing another blow to the claims dubbed “Spygate” by President Trump.

But Trump allies on Capitol Hill say that Gowdy, a former prosecutor, defended the FBI before reviewing key underlying documents — and they are furious that Ryan has backed him.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), a freshman who has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of the FBI, blasted Ryan for the statement on Thursday, calling his support of the bureau “shameful.”

House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) called Ryan’s decision “frustrating.”

“I don’t know how you can reach that conclusion based on the history of the FBI,” he told The Hill.

Nobody really thinks Ryan has been a Trump guy except for the spin-the-truth media and the twist-the-truth democRATS.

He's been a #NeverTrumper since the beginning. 100% RINO establishment.

And he's leaving Congress so he's freer to twist the blade he has figuratively thrust into Trump's back already.

My personal opinion is that the Deep State has some nefarious documentation/photos on Ryan and Gowdy. They're both abruptly leaving the Congress and both are in sync with the Deep State's resistance movement.

Can't convince me they don't have something being help over their heads to embarrass them, their families, bankrupt them, send them to jail, or whatever.

But these two act like they are puppets for the other side of the fence all of the sudden. Doesn't pass the smell test to me.

Paul Ryan is no conservative GOPer.

Ryan and Gowdy think the deep state needs help, poor thing. We don’t have enough dems, media people, academics, and federal employee lifers to keep them going, so Ryan and Gowdy contribute more anti-Trump talking points.

What’s the surprise? We all know that Ryan is a POS of the first order. I can still remember him folding like a cheat shirt at the Biden/Ryan VP debate.

Ok. I’ll tell you what. How’s about the Trump Admin, starting now, choose who they think will be the Dem candidate in 2020, and insert a friendly ‘observer’ or 10, in the campaign of the likely Dem front runner? No, you say? Why not? There’s obviously nothing legally wrong with that. If there was, the Obama Admin would be in biiiiiiig trouble! (I can hope, can’t I?)

A vocal bloc of House conservatives are fuming at Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) behind the scenes, after the lame-duck speaker publicly sided with Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) in the debate over the FBI’s tactics in its investigation into the Trump campaign...but today the DOJ scheduled a session on Monday for "The Gang of Eight" to come view documents related to those tactics - turns out the meeting Gowdy attended which resulted to his saying that documentation showed the FBI had acted correctly involved only a verbal report by the DOJ - no actual documentation was reviewed - the story may change when real live paperwork appears......

There's the usual two categories of replies here. One that traitors are getting away with treason. The other view is that there is a secret investigation that will bring them to justice. Of course, neither is true. The FBI used incredibly poor judgment investigating the political opposition. They presumably based their investigation on Mifsud's alleged encounter with Papadop mentioning the emails. The Trump-deranged Strzok was sent to Europe to gin up evidence for the investigation. At best it is very unprofessional and suitable for a banana republic. At worst it is a variety of crimes.

If those crimes are ever acknowledged they will be watered down into the "lacked candor" type of crime that McCabe might be charged with. In that case it probably means slaps on the wrist for most.

If the investigatory crimes are not acknowledged, it doesn't mean that traitors have gotten off the hook, but the deep staters in Justice are in charge. It means we have a world where foreign intel services can manipulate our elections. That's why they can never drop the Russia collusion narrative, because in all likelihood Mifsud was a British agent or involved with British intelligence.

My reasoning is pretty simple, I can't think of other motives for why Mifsud would allegedly tell Papadop about Russia having Clinton emails. I can think of plenty of sticks and one nice caroot (Papadop's Italian wife) that would get him to confess to that totally ridiculous process crime. The British effort leading to the FBI spying (and provacation of Papadop) and later surveillance of Carter Page (never charged with anything) was all grafted together as they went along. There could be other stuff in the redacted memos (e.g. Schiff's memo) but the more we learn, the less redacted material remains unknown.

I wonder what they have on Gowdy and Ryan? Or are they just innate weasels?

Not fuming at all. The reporting on this has been, at best, middle school quality.

I thought Ryan was a known quantity for some time. He has been for me.

Both he and McConnell need to be sat down now, not waiting another six months.

We have a window of opportunity.

Strike now, while the iron is hot.

These two men are slow walking everything.

Partner, Paul Ryno needs to leave his Speakership role now.

He may as well be in the Rat party. He is so disgusting that we can not stand to see his face anymore.

My children are all conservative because they will not give me the satisfaction of crushing their liberal arguments!

They will tweak me up on occasion to get my goat, but never in mixed (political) company.
