The NFL is terminally ill. The current oligarchs who run the NFL are the inheritors of an institution bequeathed to them by past owners and players. By definition, you can only have on premier sports league for any given sport, where the best of the best in that sport compete against one another. When you have no competition, it’s easy to be a poor manager, because the situation limits the need to be accountable to the consumer. Just look at all the mismanagement we see in government. The NFL owners and their jr. business partners - the players - aren’t interested in, or are incapable of being responsive to the consumers.

Is it time to regulate major league sports? Is it time to regulate Facebook and Twitter? The same arguments could be made for all three, and were made over 100 years ago when Standard Oil was busted up.

While i would’ve welcomed the players who wanted to attend ( and show no disrespect for our country’s values), perhaps PDJT had contrary information At any event, he’s made a statement for the good.

I wish the Patriots had won.

Tom Brady would have been honored to visit his friend Donald in the White House. Bob Kraft, too.

Good. Time to treat the NFL as the plague that it is.

The NFL owners are incapable of being good stewards of the product because they have conflicted interests. What might be good for the game as a whole might be bad, financially, for any given owner. Take player discipline as an example. It might be a good policy to suspend a player without pay for a week if he refuses to stand for the National Anthem, but with free agency and the huge salaries paid to the players, if you piss them off, they can easily choose to go to another team. Why do you think owners, especially those with winning teams, are so hesitant to discipline their players? The NFL is structurally flawed.

The Eagles wanted to embarrass the President by having a very small contingent show up tomorrow. Our President got wind of that and pre-emptively pulled the rug out from under them. Hope many of their season ticket holders get on the horn tomorrow and demand their tickets be refunded (those that renewed).

This is the same NFL that said no to Dallas wearing a sticker to honor their slaughtered cops. This is the same NFL that had teams kneeling in London to our anthem and standing tall to the anthem of our Revolutionary War enemy. This is the same NFL that beats players down to severe mental illness for the sake of their billionaire owners. This is the same NFL that I despise and will never watch again. Now Mr President, please get the Dept of Defense out of the business of supporting the NFL. Why let our folks be insulted as they stand there?

IMO, in the ceremonies, Trump would be wise to also have some short mention of the fact that we are ALL aware of the fact that sometimes police act outside of their authority, they sometimes make mistakes, and a few are bad apples. Correcting these issues should be a priority for every state and local police force and police union, and that the Trump Administration encourages the states and municipalities and unions to do what they can to try to reduce these incidents while still preserving public safety and police safety, and also in ensuring that truly bad acts by police do get punished.

The Kneelers are left slack-jawed, the burden is properly left in the state, local, and union hands, and the nonsense notion of "raising awareness" is left in tatters. It also rips away from the media the notion that Trump doesn't care about the issue. Their worst attacks now will simply be "well, that's not enough (even though it is not a federal issue)."

After being glued to the TV on Sundays watching NFL games for years I have totally lost interest. I’ll be enjoying family and other activities on Sundays this fall.
