Fmr. NFL Union Head: Players’ Right to Kneel “Supersedes” League Rules
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/24/2018 5:03:21 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

George Martin, the former head of the NFL players’ union, seems confused about the Constitution. Martin was interviewed on CNN this morning regarding the new NFL rule pursuant to which teams can be fined if players kneel during the Anthem. When Chris Cuomo pointed out that “the league is a private concession; they can make their own rules,” Martin responded:

“I think they have the right to make those rules. And I think we have the right to either adhere to them or not. And I think that our right supersedes theirs.”

George, how long do you think a CNN anchor would last if he refused to read the teleprompter’s criticism of President Trump?

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

Here’s an idea, any team with a kneeler should be assessed a 15 yard penalty to be enforced by the opposing team at any time during that game......

ungrateful bastards, plain and simple. Where would you be making this kind of money and fame in the world and why? because this is a great country that allowed you to live your dream. Those who want to kneel stay in the locker room until the national anthem is over no one wants to entertain your arrogance.

My right not to be subject to left-wing nonsense supersedes my interest in anything NFL.

Not with my money, you don’t!

These comments by “former” office holders, of whatever the variety, are really meaningless. Mere weak egos trying to remain relevant after a fairly lackluster tenure in their “former” position.

Show me the “kneel” clause in the Constitution, and then we’ll talk about “rights”. Liberals define “rights” as what they “want” to happen at any given moment.

Coach could throw a rainbow flag.

My rules are more important than your rules. Only one problem, it has not been about rules why America stopped watching.

The players union has a right to be as stupid as they want.

The league is run by idiots too.

The first day Colon Kapnernick did this he should have been benched for the game and all players told “NO POLITICS ON THE FIELD”

That would have been the end of it.

My right to boycott the NFL supersedes your right to kneel.

How the heck do players have a “right” to do this on someone else’s time, dime, and property?!

Cuz if players DO have a “right” to do this on their employer’s time and dime, and someone else’s property, then Katie bar the door....

If they refuse to stand for our national anthem, our boycott of the NFL will continue.

It works both ways. You have no respect for America, we have no respect for you.

And our money won’t go to players who look down on our country and who insult us.

What goes around comes around.

Hopefully the union and players call Goodell’s bluff and protest like crazy—on the field.

_Then_ the owners can finally get around to finding a spine somewhere, firing Goodell, and then firing a bunch of players.
