Why I'm So Proud Meghan Markle Made The Royal Wedding Unapologetically Black

My father is Black, and my mother is Puerto Rican. As a biracial woman, I'm very familiar with questions like, "What are you?" "But what do you consider yourself?" and insinuations of "But is she really Black?" And as much as I wish I could say this type of thinking was unique to my childhood or some less-progressive era long ago, it's something I still deal with today. Yup, in 2018. For some people, regardless of their race (and sometimes even my own friends and family) it's apparently very difficult to understand the concept that a person can proudly embrace and claim two cultures and races with open arms. But obviously, I love both of my parents equally. How could I ever be expected to choose one side or the other? How can anyone expect a person of mixed descent to simply pick or try to dictate what their identity is for them?
Meghan Markle is not a stranger to this narrative. The daughter of a white father and a Black mother, she has spoken and even written about the complications that have come with her racial ambiguity. In a poignant essay for Elle UK in 2015 (a year before she began dating Prince Harry), she wrote: "Being biracial paints a blurred line that is equal parts staggering and illuminating." Her race has also has been at the center of the conversation surrounding her entry into the royal family, to the point where Prince Harry had to release a statement asking the media to back off. Even in her engagement interview with BBC which should have been about nothing but her newfound happiness Markle had to address the attention on her race, calling it "disheartening" and "a shame."

If you want to see some true racism, find the Royal Wedding videos and read the comment section. The virulent, disgusting, hypocritical Anti-White slurs from non-whites were absolutely disgusting. It seems as if many blacks were obsessed with this wedding because of the race issue and they screamed Racist at anyone who dared to criticize Queen Meghan in any way. There were many comments about how white families were trash and black families were strong. I usually dont post comments on YouTube but I could no longer take the shameless racism. Im proud to admit that I really stirred the pot.😈 It was sad and shameful how, on every video of the wedding, the only comments were on Meghans race. Lets face it, there is a worldwide war against whites. The racist comments were from around the world. Ill admit, I was feeling very bitter and angry. I am grateful that I grew up around wonderful black people and my beloved second mother was black. If I werent exposed to those wonderful black people, I would probably be very bitter and hateful towards all blacks.

I can't believe he chose Meghan over this: Yes, but can she suck-start a school bus? I bet Meghan can. Done deal.

Octoroon, for sure. Her father was 100% white, while her mother looks 50% black/50% white.

I didn't watch any of the royal wedding. We fought a revolution so that we wouldn't need to care about the doings of British royalty. But I was told there was a lot of pageantry.
Prince Harry should realize that only his first wedding gets all the bells and whistles. He could ask his Dad--was Prince Charles' second wedding even televised?

Apparently, she's a race-obsessed idiot. Eight years of American history would be very different if a little DNA had shifted.
