Authorities in Venezuela have seized a plant owned by the American cereal manufacturer Kellogg.
It comes after the firm announced it was pulling out of the country because of the worsening economic situation.
President Nicolas Maduro, who has previously accused the US of waging economic war against his government, called the closure "absolutely unconstitutional and illegal".
He said the factory had been handed to workers and would continue production.
Earlier, workers had said they had been prevented from entering the plant in the central city of Maracay on Tuesday.
The announcement comes ahead of Sunday's presidential elections.
"We've begun judicial proceedings against the business leaders of Kellogg's because their exit is unconstitutional," Mr Maduro told cheering supporters in the central state of Carabobo.

How will the factory produce product with no inputs?
Companies that do business in socialist countries should expect them to take over at any time
Witness the end result of Socialism. This truly is the “locust” phase where the government grabs every single thing that looks remotely productive. They will run this factory into the ground like they have run everything else into the ground. Then there will be nothing productive left and everyone will be operating at a subsistence level as in North Korea.

Well aint that super cereal. Plant given to the workers eh? Well that is a recipe for roaring success. In 6 months the plant will be indistinguishable from Gaza
Now Maduro can find some Communist judge in NY appointed by Obama to rule that Kellogg’s has to continue to pay the workers to keep the plant open. Crazy.
Cultural appropriation!
He’s going to keep running the company but he’s got no money for supplies and raw materials or workers. Yeah right.
Future site of a Marxist victory mosque.
oh, snap
Should have bured it down on the way out.
“He said the factory had been handed to workers and would continue production.”

“We’ve begun judicial proceedings against the business leaders of Kellogg’s because their exit is unconstitutional,”

Who do they think they are, California?
If Democrats have their way this will happen in America.
That goes for California and Washington too.
“How will the factory produce product with no inputs?”
It won’t, but the failed Bus Driver running the failed country has to say otherwise to his starving Country. At this point Cereal is probably a luxury item anyway.
They will be like parasites who simply devour the host and move on with no thought of the future.
They will do with what they have on hand then move on, leaving an empty husk.
Now he will have to confiscate the grain to make the cereal. And the other ingredients. And the packaging maker. And the trucks.
