Listen to Lonnie Brennan from The Boston Broadside" on Jeff Kuhners show (680am WRKO) on State of MA politics. It starts from the beginning and goes for 20+ minutes.
2 major candidates, Scott Lively will challenge the current Governor Baker, that is stunning, he is going to Primary a sitting Governor.
Equally impressive is Geoff Diehl against Liz Warren. Lonnies money line abut Geoff is around 17:40 min mark. He thinks he he has got a chance against Liz Warren.
Note Geoff is a Trumpian candidate running in MA, this is not Scott Brown part deux. Wow, think of it, Liz Warren is potential not safe this cycle, that is huge, their will be no blue wave, it will be a red tide.
Regarding republican beating Warren, lll believe it when I see it. But if it happens it will be a political earthquake.
Geoff Diehl beating the fake Indian?
That’s about as likely to happen as the sun going supernova.
MA is a state Hillary won by a whopping margin.
A Trumpian hasn’t got a prayer there...
I agree. Threatening public floggings for bankers is always a political winner in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts.
Lively ran for MA gov vs Baker as an independent in 14 and got 1% of the vote
Geoff needs to refer to Warren as “Stormy Warren”- with all the free negative publicity, he will “tromp” her.
Still, a Trumpian trolling Fauxcahontas all election, it would HAVE to be fun to watch.
It won’t happen.The Gay State is,in fact,beyond redemption.
People thought I was nuts when I posted about a month before the special election that Scott Brown had a chance and he was the no vote in the cloture process on Obamacare, he was the 60th to say no and keep them at 59. They found a way around it, he turned out to be a RINO, but no I wasn't nuts he won.
I say we got more Big-Mo with Trumpsters, the Trumpian Movement nationwide, and maybe some Trumpsters on the down-low in MA. My gut feel tells me he's got a shot at this, so we'll have to disagree. BTW I defected the people's socialist republik of Taxachuetts where I was born and raised, so I am not a complete neophyte on how the state is.
LIARwatha
Oh yes, grab the popcorn, I have heard him in interviews, sharp, articulate, and no wallflower, you know where he stands ( W/ PDJT for example ).
Look. States turn. It takes time. A tiny effort today may turn into a significant effort tomorrow. Maybe you don’t win today. But maybe seeds are planted that get people thinking.
Jeff Kuhner has a pet theory, the State is Conservative but with the influx of College kids in Boston ( and the 5 college area in Amherst IMHO ) it swings the state way left as they vote too, and don't even ask if they are legally voting, especially if they are from out of state.
So do the Oldsters in MA that are motivated outshine these youngins? That is the question....
I’ve seen this experiment run before. He won’t win.
You are right.Trump got 1 mil votes. Hillary 2mil.
Trump took a lot in the rust belt and there has been a lot of improvement in those formally industrial cities. Mass could be in play with the right candidate.
Your profile suggests that you and I might be about the same age.If I'm correct you'll appreciate that, apart from my time in the Armed Forces,I've lived my entire life in the Gay State (Massachusetts).
I was wrong about Scott Brown...but his was a very special case which would be tough to explain to an "outsider".
Today,Satan himself could run for the Presidency, the Senate, the House or the Governorship and get 60% of the vote.
Remember, voters of the Gay State elected a guy to the Senate something like a half dozen times *after* he killed a young woman.Trust me when I tell you that the Senate gig belongs to Princess Liawatha for as long as she wants it.
Scott Brown winning was part of the Leftists’ plan. Not because Brown was a RINO, but because Obolacare had already passed the Senate (to thunderous applause), and with only 59 Demonrat Senators, the House had only the options of voting for it as is, or letting it die.
To stop funding for Obolacare would take only the President plus either 34 Senators or 146 Representatives, or 50-51 Senators, or 218 Representatives, or 5 Supreme Court Justices (we currently have at least 5 Supreme Court Injustices). To repeal would take: 218 Representatives, 60 Senators, and the President, OR 290 Representatives and 67 Senators without the President, OR 5 Supreme Court Justices.
To get 5 Supreme Court Justices requires at least one current Supreme Court Injustice to die, retire, resign, or be impeached and convicted, and a new Supreme Court Justice to be nominated by Trump and confirmed by 50-51 Senators.
I respectfully disagree. With Ted the Sub Commander dying changes made in the House required it go back through the Senate so they were phuched. Sp they attached it to a spending bill and the rest is history, including Roberts stabbing us in the back again denoting no, rescinding that spending bill will not remove it as law. You and I are probably closer in agreement as a way forward, i.e. getting rid of it, however we will save that one to Jan of 2019 when Mitch better get off the pot and get it done because IMHO he'll be over 60 in the Senate on his side, many of them Trumpsters.
