John McCain, who has been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer for more than a year, doesn’t want President Trump to attend his funeral and prefers Vice President Pence to be there, according to a New York Times report.
In addition, former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have been asked to deliver eulogies at McCain's funeral, sources close to both former presidents and McCain told CNN.

In this case, I suspect that the governor might appoint himself. It would give him a chance to get his name in the public. Based on commentary within the state....some people think a quick election would not be beneficial for Gov Ducey if he did intend to run.

The public has not seen or heard the man speaking since when? I have no reason to believe that he can still speak. The headlines are deceptive.
Also, I think Pence should skip the funeral. It will be an anti-Trump rally.
