“Throughout 2017, Sessions cleverly and effectively maintained the illusion of doing nothing.” Because Sessions is skilled at politics.
“The statesman must be a politician. Why should he not be secret, display masterly inactivity and sometimes make a deal with a successful enemy rather than with unsuccessful friends? Politics is not conducted in an atmosphere of kindly sentiment” (Gilby, Chicago 1958).
Sessions repeatedly defended Federal criminals rather than simply keeping silent (which he ostensibly is so cleverly able to do), e.g., on the Bundy persecutors, whose case was thrown out with prejudice!
That is gratuitous and dishonorable.
It is certainly an advantage for the adversary to think one is weak and inactive.
I am patient allowing the wheels of justice to turn. I am a retired LEO who worked Federal cases, many on my own and/or with a small group. Little was known about what I was doing until after the arrests that followed the indictments.
One the first things that impressed me in my new career was getting a proper briefing on the Privacy Act of 1974. There were certain allowed exceptions for disclosure, but back in '75, my agency required every disclosure to be documented with an exception. Meaning that the contents of the file are shared with few and then only with permission and documentation.
When Jeff Sessions was nominated for AG, I took a look at his career and noted his great success in bringing down the Klan, and a wave of illegal voting in the South. He proceeded quietly and properly, getting his case in order.
Under the Trump administration, business is being conducted properly, often in private, with decisions announced when the public has a need to know.
Under prior administrations, in conjunction with a cooperative press, arguments were made in the press.
Today, many Americans know, what I came to know back in the 80s - The press is no longer conducting proper journalism, they are merely parrots and talking heads repeating talking points they were given by unknown sources.
It is public knowledge that U.S.District Courts all over this nation are keeping under wraps judicial actions which are not public. This fact is an anomaly, but can not be ignored. Something different has been happening.
I strongly suspect that individuals have been indicted within the timing of the statute of limitations, for most criminal cases, 5 years. Justice could then inform these individuals (pre-arrest) and seek their cooperation, with favorable response for their help.
There are a lot of reasons for the delay, a part being that righteous judges need to be appointed and on the bench.
We are waiting for more then the other shoe to drop, we are waiting for both shoes to drop.
Learn from the results of the Trump administration. Their bottom line is results for the voters that put them in office. Those results are obtained, not from manipulation of public opinion from the press, but in spite of the press.
If you don't like the analogy of 4-D chess, then think of this as a poker game, a very long poker game, one side taunts and hints of their great cards, while the other player quietly stays in the game, with the occasional call, small raise, until they finally get to the position of power - All In!
