I don’t think the song has anything particular to do with Australia or New Zealand but I once saw a program on a history channel about Australian Special Forces and they were singing “The Happy Wanderer” as they marched.

I didn’t know about that one, but Walzing Matilda is always used for Australia/NZ stuff. LOL! So I used it, too. :)

The Happy Wanderer is the 'quick march' of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment.

The name is also given to a test the SASR gives candidates midway through their selection course.

The original song wasn't particularly Australian as I am sure you are aware, but SASR have embraced it.
