Melania Trump's State Dinner Menu Slammed As 'Froo-froo Garbage' By Pundit (Erick Erickson)
Newsweek ^ | April 25, 2018 | Harriet Sinclair

Posted on 04/25/2018 4:57:38 PM PDT by EveningStar

First lady Melania Trump’s menu for the state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte was described as “froo-froo [sic] garbage” by a conservative pundit, who suggested the fare was out of touch.

In a tweet, Erick Erickson mocked the menu selected by Melania—who eschewed an event planner in favor of organizing the occasion herself—which included a rack of lamb and jambalaya...

Erick Erickson @EWErickson

This menu is why I could never be President: http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/384422-first-lady-releases-menu-details-for-macrons-state-visit  I'd serve fried chicken and mashed potatoes with sweet potato pie for dessert. None of this unpronounceable froo-froo garbage.

I’m kind of interested in that lemon ricotta stuffed pasta that Liz told me they served at the private Mt. Vernon dinner...

“What is the temperature to temper chocolate?
Heat it for 5 to 10 seconds at a time, stirring and checking the temperature before reheating. For dark chocolate, reheat to 88°F to 91°F. For milk and white chocolate, reheat to 87°F to 88°F. If you keep your chocolate within these temperature ranges, it will stay in temper and be liquid enough to use.”

Looks like he has the "meat sweats".

Kale is not food. It is fodder for farm animals. The reason it appears everywhere, masquerading as human food, is that the kale leaf stands up much better to temperature and transportation and storage than spinach. It is much less expensive to produce and market than something edible like spinach. Even turnip, mustard and collard greens are preferable to kale. Kale should be saved for the cows and hogs and Californians.

Such a person would, no doubt, heartily approve a menu of quinoa and etoufee...

Concur with all of that. And for my bona fides, my wife was looking for a cooking class what would teach me how to French a lamb rack like Gordon Ramsey. I’ve tried it watching his Youtube video and failed miserably. It’s *hard*!

Also, I scored some Carolina Gold rice a couple years ago in Beaufort. Lovely stuff.

Erick grew up and lives in Macon. As I noted in my previous post, it is a culinary wasteland. There is simply no way he could have dined out enough to have a valid opinion in this area.

In short, he’s as full of feces on this as he was on the Trump candidacy.

I wondered why the kale torture that was inflicted on grade schoolers. (And yes the stuff can be had canned.) Even plain old spinach is superior. Popeye never fought to the finish except maybe to keep from eating the kale!

Erickson has been feeding “anti-Trump” garbage since Trump first declared as a Presidential candidate.

He has never, never given Trump a fair shake. He hates Trump, always has, always will.

He is a colossal POS.

Have YOU ever enrobed anything in melted chocolate?

I have and make hand dipped candy, enrobed pretzels and yes, potato chips. You can easily burn your fingers in the melted chocolate, which, is hot enough to cook a small cherry tomato!

Is that the same as ‘Popcorn’ rice? I’ve been wanting to try that.

One is supposed to strip a certain area of the rib bones clean of the meat. Looks easy in principle.

I liked it when I was young - even liked mutton; then lost the taste for it. But we cooked a small leg in our Instant Pot this past Easter, and it turned out scrumptious!

Just because something is on line, doesn't mean that you can believe it!

I've been making candy and using chocolate since I was 12...which is more decades than I care to post about.

You're just doing your usual baiting & stirring up crap, for NO damned reason!

Well it sure sounds like you used a dip prepared differently from what Google showed. If it could burn you, then yes it would cook the tomato. But I have seen strawberries done that way, and even bananas — and no they don’t look cooked. So dear, you should look for a low temp dip recipe. Maybe the higher temp stuff is for pretzels, etc.
