This is a story about love and betrayal.
Andrea Barone was barely 18 months old when he first set out on the ice, his tiny legs shaking and pushing behind a chair along the cold surface. If, in Montreal, hockey is religion, then this was baptism by ritual, every morning practice, every unsteady drag of his skates drawing him closer to the game he was falling for.
....
Barone is sure of two things about himself: He is a hockey man, and he is a gay man. In the sport he has devoted his life to, this has proved an untenable intersection.

This alone is the most reprehensible: Atheists trying to anoit the saecularis abominandus with the words of the holy.
Would add a new dimension to the “blew line” ...
Ding ding ding!
We have a winner; no more calls.....
they cannot fire him. The human rights tribunals will get involved and gut any organization they can.
It’s a first, we have a rimming queer on the ice.
NHL rules state figure skates are not permitted to be worn. Additionally uniform rules are pretty standard and do not allow “ extraneous” adornments Thus this “pioneer is SOL. Or, will he sue the NHL for the right to wear a tutu and figure skates...
I never liked Kerry Fraser and Terry Gregson, going back to their AHL days. The rest of the list I ... disliked less, especially Hood and van Hellemond. (They were refs - it’s always a bit of an adversarial relationship.)
I am just plain tired of the faggot thing.
Can’t these people STFU and go about their lives? Why does the fact that he’s a sodomite have to be presented.
And if you have to ask will hockey accept him as a faggot, instead of just a referee, the question answers itself.
As a USA hockey official with 15+ years of experience, I have a definite issue with sharing a locker room with a gay guy. In a 2 man system, it is you and your partner alone in a room. If I don’t know what orientation is OK. But if this fruit comes sashaying in to the Officials locker room, where is my safe space?
also what happens if he gets cut on the ice? Aids anyone???
Because that’s a way to ensure he makes it to the show. If he doesn’t make it to the NHL, it’s because he’s gay. That will be the narrative.
“Can he keep up? Hes not out there looking for a date. What difference does his sexual preference have to do with his job?”
Absolutely nothing. This is the start of the libs destroying another sport. Next up will be why are there so few blacks in the NHL?
How could you possibly know that?
You, as a heterosexual, are denied a safe space! You MUST accept and celebrate all perversions, even if it makes you uncomfortable! Making you uncomfortable is what they strive for.
The white, heterosexual males have had their day in the sun. The future belongs to the queers and queens, doncha know? /s
Personally, Im just waiting for that fuse to be lit. These sissy boys will be running away as fast as their fairy wings can flutter!
I watched an incredible Maple Leafs/Bruins game last night and not once did I wonder if the ref enjoyed jamming his cock up some dude’s ass. Just STFU and ref the game, you faggot.
This guy wants the entire professional hockey world to adapt to him. Talk about narcissism. And he gets his feelings hurt when others direct slurs at others, not directly at him. Either toughen up Mr Gay Ref, or quit.
The dude just needs to be a good referee and SHUT UP ABOUT WHAT GOES UP HIS CORNHOLE!!
But if someone calls him a c*cks*cker or polesmoker he gets his feelings hurt and wants that player or coach suspended and fined.
A boy named Andrea?
Frankly I don’t know how he’s surviving in minor league hockey. I used to attend a lot of minor league games when I lived in Michigan. Kalamazoo had a goalie on their roster named Larry Dick. You can imagine the reception he got from 5000 drunken fans on the road when he skated out with “#1 DICK” on the back of his jersey. I imagine this guy has gotten similar greetings.
Do job interview forms now ask people to state their “orientation”? SO SICK OF THIS....
