inland has decided to end its experiment with a universal basic income, in which people are paid an unconditional salary by the state instead of benefits.
The idea of a universal basic income has high-profile champions such as Richard Branson, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
But the Finnish government's enthusiasm for a pilot scheme, a European first which garnered worldwide attention, is petering out. Calls for extra funding for it were rejected and the two year trial will not be extended after next year.

Someone tell Bernie, another thread has his new idea of a basic job and insurance for everyone. Just about the same thing. I gather Finland figured out they could not afford it.

According to the article they were asking for about $61 Million Euros to keep the program going, well between those three that is peanuts, they could have easily donated that sum to keep the experiment going.
I am up for work at 5.00am and finish at 5.10pm, and yet never have a vacation with my family.
My Niece is on the welfare, has 3 ids, a boyfriend, claims she is single, and has got back form Spain, going to Croatia in two months.
Then a liberal I argued with said we should give more welfare so the poor make better decisions.
You cannot even make up how stupid the left are.

The left are crazy, violent and braindead. I even had an argument here on FR when I posted “the homeless are lazy” which I got some weird responses.
Back in 2006, I interned before my final year from university at a homeless shelter on Skid Row. Being a do-gooder, I thought they had a budget problem.
Lo and behold, 90% of these clowns have free housing, free medical/dental, free food etc. I talked to the black guys (who are the majority) and they were all LAUGHING how easy it is for them. The dental is top notch: dentistry school by the closest top university + medical from interns from also the closest top university close by. Sh*t, I had free dental work done on me (part of my internship) and it was like having the best work done by professionals I kid you not.
They dont have to bust their asses like we do.

Bernie Sanders wants to try that in this country.
Bernie already announced today that he will unveil as part of his platform in 2020 a guaranteed job for everyone at $15/hour plus free health care benefits.
A representative from Sanders's office said they had not yet done a cost estimate for the plan or decided how it would be paid for, saying they were still crafting the proposal.
Duh! Ya' think?
