HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – A Hartsville man wasn’t happy when the popular cooler maker YETI appeared to cut ties with the National Rifle Association.
So, he decided to take his frustration out on his YETI cooler by blowing it up.
Bryan Atkinson posted a Facebook Live video to his page on Monday that shows him destroying a YETI cooler that was full of Tannerite, a brand of patented explosive targets.
“There’s the famous YETI. There’s the famous 22 pounds of Tannerite. This YETI ain’t ready,” Atkinson said in the video.
Two men load the cooler into a truck and take it far out into a field. Atkinson then uses a rifle to blow up the cooler, creating a large plume of white smoke.
“YETI can’t stand behind the NRA, I ain’t standing behind YETI no more,” Atkinson said.

A little history might be illuminating... YETI shortsightedly cozied up to a political group. That group is now showing how asinine it can be when YETI tries to go neutral again. There is no re-becoming Switzerland for a Switzerland that sold out.
If you really want the publicity, do it. Greenie anti-gunners will thank you.

But that overlooks a larger factor. This is going to hurt every time a political battle on gun control gets close. How many incidents like this were dragged out for Vermont, for instance?

Exactly. Hunters driving 4x4 or ATV to deer camp need a $600 cooler (cheaper brands available) to keep ice for 4 or 5 days.
Same with guys going fishing for a couple of days in the heat of summer. They have the resources to haul a huge cooler full of ice.
Backpackers, kayakers don’t. A canoe could hold a large cooler. I’d hate to think Yeti believes the canoe market is a worthy replacement for hunters/fisherman.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how much rolling over and whimpering those of us do who prefer to keep the oaths too many of us have taken at various times in our lives. Please keep in mind that in the context of all the Socialist lunacies we see acted out daily, blowing up a cooler is a barely noticeable if indecorous, blip. Would Big Daddy take away our Vette for that?

I just bought a new Lund to fish the great lakes, there will be no yeti coolers on it, ever!
I was just getting ready to buy a large cooler for the fish box.
One of the crab boat captains from Deadliest Catch had to quit because of a bad back. He started making high tech coolers in Idaho. Look to be about 40% cheaper than Yeti.

Another tell for who buys Yeti. We’re 20 miles from Asheville and every day I see multiple liberals who have sitckers plastered on the back of their car. Never, not once have I seen a Yeti sticker.
But I see Yeti stickers often on the back windows of the local pick-up truck crowd along with Hunting related stickers.
