Vanity: Can Freepers Help Nail Down What Happened At The Philly Starbucks?
None ^ | April 19, 2018 | Vanity

Posted on 04/19/2018 12:44:08 PM PDT by JOHN ADAMS

Trying to get objective information on what actually happened at the Philly Starbucks is like searching for a unicorn, but I'm hoping well-informed Freepers can help. Civilized people of all races should not, as far as I can see, expect to go into a restaurant and expect to be able to sit there indefinitely, or use the bathroom, if they're not paying customers -- unless, of course, that's the restaurant's business model because they think it'll attract people to sit there and ultimately spend money. Have people on this board seen reliable reports, i.e. not ideologically driven, about what happened?

You’re welcome. I suspect had they left at the PD’s request, they wouldn’t have been arrested, which makes this whole thing suspicious. If they were truly waiting on a business associate, why not leave when the cops ask you to?

The two guys walk in the door and one immediately asked for the key for the bathroom. He was not a paying customers so he was turned down.A waitress came over and asked if she could get them anything. They said no,2 minutes later the police were called.Police came and told them Starbucks wanted them to leave. They refused and were cuffed. There is a recording of the police call with time line online.Same restaurant turned my friend down when her car broke down in a snowstorm and also a Police Officer. It’s their policy.

Because you're not doing anything wrong and this is America.

-btw the business associate actually shows up while they're being arrested and asks them whats going on. His name is Andrew Jaffe and he's a local real estate developer.

If you haven’t bought anything then you’re not a customer and not entitled to use the bathroom.

However, It pays to be discreet when you invoke that. If they are clean cut well clothed then who cares? But if they look like a bunch of taggers, all tatted up and pant hanging below the butt cheeks you might figure them for some mischief.

My sister had an internet cafe coffee, Pastries books, magazines and free WIFI and had problems with squatters. I would head down there on the worst days and start blocking their MAC address at the router level. Not only did it discourage them to leave, once entered they’re permanently blocked until I unblock them, so they stop coming back.

My brother conducted business out of a Starbucks. $25 donated to the employee tip jar was good enough to get buy with all day wifi and perhaps 2 or 3 cups of coffee.

The two arrived at 4:35
Manager called police at 4:37

Police arrive at 4:41

WHAT WE GOT HERE is the WORLD RECORD for POLICE RESPONSE TIME.

The other day we stopped at a Starbucks to use the restroom and, out of courtesy, bought some coffee.

I figured it was only fair. We didn’t need the coffee since we had already eaten breakfast.

Maybe I should have thrown a tantrum and gotten free coffee for life. Oh wait, I am of the “privileged race” so no free coffee fro me.

McDonalds is good about allowing non-customers to use their restrooms so we look for them when we are on the road.

Apparently the two males entered the Starbucks, waiting for a third party.

Wow I thought I was reading a CNN script since it left out the part of the two males being black.

So now, Starbucks is going to close all of its facilities for a day or so and give all of its 100+ thousand employees "inclusion" training. All because two arrogant blacks did not want to pay for a cup of coffee and were waiting on the "third" party to get there to pick up the tab.

Pretty soon Starbucks will only have see through coffee so as not to offend someone.

I didn’t add it, because from the Starbucks point of view, race had nothing to do with it. The OP asked for explanation without any kind of political biases.

Yeah but that’s only the first half of the story...

Then they discovered the men in question were black, and so the manager was fired and the men contacted a lawyer because their rights were violated.

The end.

I have been to that Starbucks. Like many buildings in Philadelphia, it is narrow and room is limited. Like many establishments, the bathrooms are locked and one has to ask to use it. In many cases, if one does not intend to pay for anything, they are told to buy something and asked to leave if they don't. This is really a non story blown up by the usual suspects and that the "aggrieved" were black. The situation is further blown up by the countless posturing and apologies from Starbucks and the City. The media carries the hot story/narrative until it fizzles out.

Businesses have these policies not for racism, but to fill seats with PAYING customers and to keep the filthy funky scummy homeless people from infesting establishments. Even the libtards in Philadelphia hold their nose to the street people.

In a rational free society, right of ownership of private property is part of private property rights. Rational right of ownership includes the right to use and dispose of one’s private property as one desires as long as it doesn’t violate the natural rights of others.

The same thing happened to me one evening while walking my dog-———I went into a local restaurant, tossed a couple of bucks on the counter for a coffee, and used the restroom.

I didn’t drink the coffee-—I went back to the dog. :-)

Ha! Yeah, my dogs don't drink coffee either ;-)
