Agreed!
I have a feeling that the lands where they were building/shooting off the missiles has collapsed or will not bear any future strain...end of Kim's gig.
Without any harm to us?? It would close 90% of the retail stores in the US. Where do you think we get our “stuff” from?
No, it would not. There are existing manufacturers in the USA who make that stuff, but sell it online or to smaller boutique shops. It might take some time to ramp up production, but all of the “stuff” can and would be made here. There are other countries, i.e. Taiwan and Vietnam, who make a lot of that “stuff” and would easily make up the difference.
We do not “need” China the way they “need” us.
And how much of that “stuff” do we really need?
More fantastic news!!! Trump!!!
(I see the negative loser commitee is already here on fr, saying but but but....”it’s s trap! Taiwan! Can’t verify! Woe is us! Uuunnngh...” probably posting from the state department lol. Suck it, losers!)
>>I also think China is realizing just how huge an economic blow cutting trade with the USA would incur on them, with hardly any real harm to us.
>>I know I will be flamed for that remark but the truth is that we can do without China imports much easier then they can do without our export (money). China will have riots and the military actions that will follow within their country. We will not.
I wont flame you becuase you are absolutely correct. Their economy exists because of ours. Our economy can exist without theirs, but with higher prices (and more jobs). A trade war hurts us and destroys them.
Even still....
Eons beyond what weve heard before.
Two things:
I don’t think we get out of South Korea. In the statement, Moon says that our troops are not part of the conditions that the North is looking for. Sure, this could eventually happen, but not now. Perhaps 10 - 15 years from now when we have completely certified that the North has no nukes and they have pulled their massive amount of troops away from the border and we have normalized relations with them. Even then, I don’t believe we pull our troops out unless South Korea wants us to. We have other interests (like China) in the region.
2. Taiwan only loses if we pulled out all of our troops. We are not going to abandon Taiwan. Even though some things about red China look bad, right now they are developing institutions that are conducive to democracy. If they keep going down the path they are going, their communism will fall on it’s own and at that point Taiwan may want to actually merge with China.
Do keep in mind that NK acquired nuclear weapons under an agreement that in exchange for them getting oil and other supplies, we would quit looking.
It would be surprising for Trump to give up both sides of the agreement.
NK has two things going for it-
1)Cheap labor, willing to literally work for food. Admittedly, most of this cheap labor pool is rural and untrained.
2)Mineral deposits, worth Trillions of dollars, untapped...
Sounds like Appalachia a century ago. NK could become one huge strip mine...
Thanks Dana1960. The meeting should be on free ground, that is, the Republic of Korea. Once the Doughboy and his delegation arrives, they should be arrested, tried for crimes against humanity, found guilty, and executed. Of course, I mean that in the nicest possible way.
“The one good concrete sign I see right now (other than all the goodwill talk) is the fact that they are not doing any tests.”
The declared they had completed testing months ago following successful completion of nuclear, ICBM and SLBM testing. IOW they have completed development of both warhead and missile platforms. Ego, they have moved to serial production of warheads and missiles. Hence the need to buy time forestalling any attack until their stockpiles have increased to numbers beyond what the US can defend against.
I don’t say I trust them, however we can monitor their production and activities through satellite. This could all be a ruse, but what makes me feel good is the signs that President Trump is giving out. I trust him and he seems to be cautiously optimistic, therefore I am also.
Moon’s been sniffing glue.
I’ll believe THAT when I see it.
TRUST, BUT VERIFY? The trust would be difficult and the verify would be much harder than that. Trump will assess.....I will TRUST Trump.
Of course, since all their techs and scientists were killed in that collapse.......................
He will tell them that the US surrendered. The huge might of the NK army brought the US to our knees and we have given in. AND, we are paying NK reparations.
And from their perspective it will be close to the truth. An improved standard of living and an end to starvation will rapidly follow. A lot of it paid by American money.
The U.S. was never going to defend Taiwan by going to war with China.
Kim is korean and therefore not be trusted
He will agree to anything and then renege later....... the Korean way
