Starbucks needs to ask themselves, "Do we want to be a safe haven for loiterers and street people who don't buy anything at the expense of our customers?"
They're a business, not the public library.
Almost every downtown restaurant has a policy to kick out non-customers (aka loiterers) because if they don't, they'll never leave, and the people with money to spend will stop coming.
Couldnt happen to a nicer bunch of racists.
Shadenfreude.
Wait until more figure out they can win the ghetto lottery at liberal Starbucks.
There ain’t enough popcorn to go around.
[He/she/it that lives by political correctness, dies by political correctness.]
Yes. How many locations does Starbucks have? Once they pay off, it’s on like Donkey Kong.
If they don’t pay off, Obama will give the dog-whistle to BLM.
Either way, invest in popcorn futures.
Its true that if you live near a college campus, you will see people sitting there for hours, although they have all learned to buy something and sometimes will go back during the course of their studying or surfing to get something more. McDonalds isnt quite as pleasant an environment for sitting, since its generally busier, doesnt have cool jazz in the background, etc. - and of course, Starbucks only has a few tables and high-tops, so as you say, theres less seating and it fills up pretty quickly.
I just dont think race had anything to do with this. But the guys probably had that usual black chip on the shoulder and interpreted the policy, as many blacks always do, as relating to race. Perhaps Starbucks should work on conflict resolution rather than race, however. These men sound like they came in with a bad attitude (why not just say okay and buy one cup of coffee?), and a lot of customers probably do, so employees should learn strategies for dealing with this, rather than worry about non-existent racial profiling.
They must have used Cursive when they wrote “Black Dudes” on their Coffee Cups.
>>>Not to buy coffee but to check out their restroom and read a book<<<
Remember, when you take a Bok into the Restroom you have to buy it, not Returning it either. Remember what happened to George Costanza.
This is such a snowflake dramatic over reaction.
Back in the day, they would have fired the idiots, given the guys a couple grand, and they moved on. Easy peasy.
True. The Starbucks CEO certainly bent right over on command for his masters.
Ya think the AP has considered the likelihood that this was all a setup?
First sign that they were ginning up an ‘incident’:
When asked to leave, they refused rather than taking the problem public or to corporate management.
Second sign:
When the police asked them to leave, they refused which resulted in their arrests.
Mission accomplished.
No thank you Starbucks! I don't want to talk about race. I just want a cup of hot, strong, black coffee!
I work in NYC and it seemed there was a Starbucks on every block but another rapidly growing coffee chain (at least in NYC) caught my eye. It's called Gregorys Coffee and I'm very impressed with the quality of their coffee. I don't know the politics of this company or its founder and I don't care to know. Whatever their politics are, they keep it to themselves. But their stores have that same upscale vibe of Starbucks.
So I will be content to go there until Black Rifle Coffee starts opening outlets in NYC (and they said they would on the Hannity show not too long ago). Imagine having both Black Rifle Coffee AND Chick-Fil-A in Manhattan! Can't wait.
I bet if Starbucks didn’t cave in to politically correctness their business would not be affected. I’ve never been in a Starbucks where there were “race of professional victims” as customers as the customers were of any race but.
The arrest of two freeloaders, rather.
My guess is that it was a planned and staged event but with the assistance of the MSM pimps and whores it went viral. But you will notice how the police in the Progressive Ghetto escaped unharmed.
I’d like to know how you can be progressive and inclusive, while regressing and excluding most people.
Really...”white” coffee...
<>I usually have to go to McDonalds or Dunkin’ Donut....
for good coffee.
I think the whole affair was staged
Blacks ought to boycott Starbucks. That’d knock about $8 off their bottom line this year.
