Sen. Mike Lee issued a statement Monday criticizing the Trump administration for not seeking congressional authority before launching airstrikes in Syria.
No President of the United States, no matter party or political ideology, has the authority to unilaterally start a war. While the president has the authority under the War Powers Act to respond when the U.S. is under attack or in imminent danger, such circumstances did not exist with regard to Syria, Mr. Lee, Utah Republican, tweeted.

Trump needs support now as he fights the Deep State, not attacks from the Right over a meaningless raid.
I agree. He also needs to be told by Deplorables when he's being played by those who do not embrace our agenda. I've mentioned already, I'm glad he's in FL. Away from the DC sewer (swamps too kind) he can stick to the principles that got him elected.
Yes, but GOP Senators don’t need to be attacking him for doing what every President has the right to do, use military force
And there was a time when folks were hailing Lee as a “solid and principled conservative”....
In these circumstances, the small number of Republican Senators who actually support President Trump and the Deplorable Agenda which got him elected have an OBLIGATION to voters. That's to make it clear that it's unacceptable for him to get his feet wet in the swamp. President Trump needed every little part of his voters to get elected in some states. Here (OH) and I suspect some others, there are voters who would've preferred Bernie Sanders or Rand Paul to keep us out of war. Because President Trump has been a critic of Mideast meddling since it first got out of hand (invading Iraq) many chose him over Hillary. Or voted third party or didn't vote. President Trump getting drawn in to staged shenanigans by McCain's terrorists or perhaps at most some rogue elements in Syria is not acceptable, and President Trump has to know that.
A lot of President Trump's voters support him 100%. We do realize that life isn't easy surrounded by swamp creatures. We have to let him know when they're getting their way. Those DC Swampthings who aren't in line with the Deep State have to speak up, too. If not, we've lost.
Poolie18;
I’m going to link you to a few articles where Mike Lee is involved. I’m not trying to take you to task here. I just think there are some thing to think about related to him. I’m not convinced he’s a Trump team player. It’s important he not be reflexively anti-Trump. Now I don’t think he always is, bu there are times when he has appeared to be.
Trump as CIC has every right to use our military forces at will, if he believes they are called for. This is imperative, because there would NEVER AGAIN, be the ability for the U. S. to launch surprise attacks, if the POTUS had to notify Congress each and every time he wanted to use the military. This is settled law. None the less, Lee criticized Trump for doing this. Article touching on it next.

Judge Roy Moore was attacked for beating out the incumbent Republican, to run in a special election. Republican leaders eviscerated him. They bought off on the smear job by the Leftists in a matter of moments. Many well known Republicans sought to harm Moore. Mike Less was one of them. He pulled his endorsement, before the dust even settled. That isn’t right. We lost a Senate seat over these types of schenanigans.

These are vitally important issues.
If Mike Lee sits on the SCOTUS, he must be able to come to the right conclusions on issues. The first issue I mentioned here is exactly the type of case he could be expected to see at the court. He got this wrong, and it’s an issue that has surfaced under Reagan, Bush, and now Trump. Lee’s position on this has been shot down continually.
I’m not sure I would pick him over others. Let me rephrase that. I would not pick him over others.
