In 86’ Reagan actually targeted Gaddafi and just barely missed.
From memory...That attack was because he had nuclear weapons. It was NOT an assignation attempt. IIRC, The attack killed his 3 year daughter. He surrendered more or less....and got rid of his nukes.
One of Reagan’s worst mistakes.
