Famous civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has set his sights on Kroger after stores closed in a predominantly black neighborhood. He came to Cincinnati, where Kroger is headquartered, to call for a boycott. Jackson is calling for a boycott after three of Kroger's stores recently closed in Tennessee. About 100 people gathered to listen to Jackson at the shuttered Walnut Hills store. Dailey also said Kroger is providing a free shuttle service for Walnut Hills senior citizens to another Kroger store about a mile away. Kroger is also building a new store downtown which can serve many inner city residents.

I might have to start shopping at Kroger
They leave those areas because of enormous crime and shoplifting.
Sounds like the Randall’s store near my neighborhood. I only went there as a last resort. Now it is finally closing.
Rev. Jackson should use his organization Rainbow/Push to compete with, and put Kroger out of business altogether. Rev. Jackson has already announced his business model: low prices for food and high wages for workers at the food store, plus plenty of generous benefits for workers.
And free food for anyone that needs it.
What could go wrong?
My brother-in-law works at a Walgreens that has an epidemic of shoplifting - all by black "customers". Walgreens will be closing down 600 stores. If the customers aren't paying for the goods, why bother having a store in the area?

Anything to do with all the shoplifting and the crime in the area? Plus it’s hard to get people to work in that area.
True, but in these stores you see, the people inside do the robbing.

We are going to boycott a business that cant make a profit and is being ransacked everyday with no repercussions, yeah I want to own a store like this and watch it get robbed or shoplifted everyday
The euphemism is "shrinkage" and includes opened drink containers and candy/food wrappers/boxes left by unsupervised children roaming the store.
If business is viable in the area, this is a great opportunity for a black-owned grocery chain to move in and take over. Or Jesse could help start one.

Jesse has money and connections. Why don’t he and his friends open a grocery store in the under served areas?

There’s a reason why stores close around them. Constant robberies and shoplifting.
I guess Kroger learned the hard way they arent in business to give away free food to a steady stream of thieves and shoplifters.
One drug store started putting locked hard plastic covers over their cosmetic displays and the locals started yelling racism inferring they’re shoplifting .... and they were.
They genuinely believe they are entitled to other people’s property. No morals, just wild, rabid animals.
